Not sure if you're aware but, Kam was penalized on that play, giving them a 1st & goal from the 2, & they scored a TD instead of a FG.

That being said, it was an absolute BS call & I'll assume that's not the part of the play you're wanting to happen.

that hit set a tone of fear that impacted how many receivers played against the lob for several seasons, making even the crap penalty completely worth it. Sometimes the fine is worth the crime.

Lol, yeah, I remember that part. But that was a clean tackle, a hard tackle, but clean nonetheless. Did it look like "unnecessary roughness" right after it happened? Probably, but if the refs delegated a bit longer, they would've seen that Kam didn't go helmet-to-helmet, nor did he launch himself at Davis. By the NFL's own rules, that wasn't a penalty, and the ref should've picked the flag up. Luckily, it didn't matter, and the 9ers ended up getting spanked on primetime TV.

But yeah, minus the penalty. And you know what? Minus the catch as well, Davis might've lost his soul on that play, but he didn't lose the ball...somehow.

How do you penalize a guy for being a damn bullet?

Should’ve just renamed the penalty as ‘Unnecessary Bam Bam’.
