Cherry on top - with that win Seahawks also eliminate the Cardinals from playoff contention.

Not quite. There is still an outside (as in winning the LOTTO) chance for the Cards to get the #6 seed, but they have to win out AND get help. They are eliminated from the Division though.

Edit: It is true that if (when) we beat the Cardinals, we will eliminate them from the playoffs if they haven't been already. Is that what you meant?

Winning the division is always good and always worthwhile.

1. You can't win the Superbowl if you don't make the playoffs, and a division title guarantees that.
2. You are assured of at least one home game.

Next up: Securing the #2 seed! Go Giants

Congrats but...

Means nothing unless we win the Superb Owl.

Naw, it means an awful lot. Would you rather have another team win the division year in and year out, and just win a Championship every once in a while, or would you rather win the division (and an automatic home game playoff berth) every year and every year have a better-than-not chance at the NFL title?

I am happy for the team but there are larger goals ahead. I'll be happy when I know we've wrapped up the #2 seed. Realistically, I think it would be hard for this team to make it to the superb owl with two road games, assuming the #1, and #2 seeds win, not impossible but hard. Divisions don't mean anything to me it's just another banner, seeding in the NFL is WAYYY more important. This coming from a fan of teams who have won lots of division or conference championships in various sports, pro and minor, but never brought home the real hardware.

Every game is worth the win in its own right. Every match-up is worth a win in its own right. Another super bowl win would be fantastic, but some other team will say "yeah, but we have 5 rings" and then that becomes the goal to reach.

Live for a super bowl if you wish. Football is too much fun to watch game-to-game without always holding off any celebrating until--and IF--you win it all. Life like that must be quite depressing, for the most part.

now its time to get the two seed!

We are going to be #1. Bank on it.

I'd love to have the #1 seed, but I don't think that's likely let alone willing to bank on it. For that to happen, either the Cowboys would have to lose out and still win the division (possible but very unlikely) or the Giants would have to catch up and win with 11 wins (and not 12) and win the NFCE. Assuming Seattle wins out, these are the only two scenarios that I see that give Seattle the #1 seed. It's not completely unthinkable, but I think we've dug far too deep a hole for it to be really realistic. IMHO the #2 seed is almost as good and we are in fantastic position to get that!

Our 8th since joining in 2002!

Number of division titles by the Cards, Rams, and Niners in that span? 7.

Who cares, if we're going to play Dallas anyway, in some ways playing them on the road is an advantage to Seattle. Dallas historically plays far better on the road.

Rich Eisen said it on the post game show and Ian rapoport tweeted it out, but now I think they jumped the gun. I think if Tampa wins this week then they are officially eliminated.

Arizona is eliminated if:

1. They lose
2. Atlanta AND Tampa win

Either of these could easily happen.

Of course you want to win the Super Bowl every year but all 32 teams want that. Getting another division title is great and at the very least makes this season worth it.

By the way, we're the first team to clinch our division and second team overall to clinch a play-off spot. It might not have been a perfect regular season but it still sounds damn impressive to me.

Absolutely untrue. Taking back the division is a great accomplishment, even with the rest of the NFC West having awful seasons.

I wouldn't say it mwas "nothing," but I will say that it's really nothing to celebrate

The Yankees, patriots, Steelers, Duke University, do not celebrate dvision champiinships
Division champion is nice, but it's not thinking big

Can't see this but it'd be fun.

I do think we will be hosting the NFC Championship though.
