What a day yesterday. If we (or anyone) win 14 in a row, they truly deserve to win the league. There were many manly tears shed by many manly men in a little bar in North Tacoma yesterday morning.

To say Arsenal fans were nervous and stressed out on Saturday is an understatement. I've seen videos from Arsenal Fan TV where they were discussing the game have had people say anything from they didn't even watch the shootout to running to the bathroom to puke.

Agreed. I can only dream of coming half way to that in Seattle. I get goosebumps everytime I hear it...and I'm not even a fan of the football club. It just means so much to those supporters and their emotions are carried beautifully in that song.

Can't really argue on this. It's definitely an awe inspiring sight to witness. The only thing that I can think of that can compete is Celtic fans when they do their "Just Can't Get Enough" chant.

Not really wanting to start an argument here but I saw the highlights from the City-Liverpool game again and I gotta ask, Did Suarez deserve to be on the pitch at the full time whistle? Two blatant dives by him while he was on a yellow card and I have to say both him and Liverpool are lucky he wasn't sent off. He'd be a lot more respected by opposing teams' fans if he could just learn to stop going to ground when a defender doesn't do much more than breathe on him.

I think on the first one, Suarez' trailing foot clips Dimichelis' outstretched leg just a little. Running at full tilt, that'll make you tumble, but Suarez has made the most of it and shouldn't have pressed the issue. The second one he's gone to ground easily, but there was contact for sure. I'd prefer it if it didn't happen, but if you watch suarez for a whole game, you'll see that he gets pushed and pulled around, tripped and fouled with nothing from the ref, he feels he almost has to play it up every time to get the call. It's sad and I wish it didn't happen, but that's football. You'll find that many players on many teams do the same or worse.

The game was a weird one, with non-calls going against both teams. The clear-cut penalty for Liverpool that wasn't given, and the handball against Skrtel (also a pen) that wasn't seen. Football's a funny ol' game.

I think thats a fair summary... he does find contact, but he obviously sells it. Its not simulation, just more embellishment. Dzeko did something similar (in my opinion) when Sahko missed the ball. You'll see his trailing foot run up Sahko's shoulder and then arms go flailing. If Suarez was in the box, Clattenberg may have been forced to send him off. He needs to realize how many penalties he doest get because refs just are conditioned not to believe him. To be honest Gate I guess I didnt see the other "blatant" dive. The respect from other fans is farcical. The man is absolutely punished by opposing defenders every game with so little as a nod from the referree. I doubt many fans look at that with any sense of acknowledgement. noone in the premier league works harder off the ball and on it than Suarez. its really not close.

On that subject, I think the FA would do well to start fining these players for their antics after games. They can start a points system that leads to a ban after accumulation. Just need to take the drama out of it. It brings too much animosity to the game from a fan perspective and gives them a sense of some justice.

Also, neither espn.com nor espnfc.com has a single story regarding hillsborough. Weird.

ESPN has a 30 for 30 special tonight. Other than that, not a thing. Just a note and a link on ESPNUK.

Its not an "American" story. Really ESPN's adopted Prem team is United. if the news doesnt apply to them its rarely seen on the front page.

I was 15 when it happened. Living in New Jersey. I still remember the front page of the Star Ledger had a picture of these kids faces pressed up against that blue fencing. That was the story, that was the news. And then it was sort of gone. Trying to get any idea of what was happing in English football in the 80s and early 90s was difficult at best in the US anyways.

Today the coverage would have been much different ofcourse. But in the pre-CNN, pre-Internet days it was a newspaper story one day, then replaced by something more local the next. I still think ESPN and the rest of American media are playing catch up to football and its stories.

Its Messi, United, World Cup....the rest is filler. While the emotions of City's massive win two years ago, the atmosphere at Anfield on Sunday and the tributes to one of the greatest sports tragedies ever may have made the front pages, their is no historical context for ESPN, CNN, FOX to fall back on. It runs its 24 hours and then is replaced by NFL free agency, baseball, basketball, whatever..

its so difficult to be a fan here because its nearly impossible to replicate the atmosphere and emotion we see cast across the line from the streets and stands in England.

Brendan and Roberto did themselves, their clubs and the families great justice with their readings this afternoon as well.

Didn't see the game live due to work, but I watched the match after I got home and it was a decent game by Arsenal. As I had expected, Arsenal were tired through a good part of the game, Podolski's equalizer was needed more so than just simply leveling the game up. And Giroud's goal, I can't say enough about that touch by him, it was pin-point perfect, gave Arsenal a vital shot of adrenaline and they rode it to the finish.

By the way, nice gesture by Giroud dedicating his goal to the Hillsborough victims.

very touching tribute from the Dortmund crowd

Saw Girouds gesture, and his comments after the game. Very well done on his part, admitting not knowing the story well but still realizing its significance. Its the best way to make sure its never forgotten.

Seriously, Pulis has done a maginificent job there, something like 35 points over 22/23 games? either way, they are now truly safe from the drop.

Bummer for our Merseyside brethren, but thus is life in the Prem. Arsenal/Wenger to survive yet again.

How about Sunderland!? Coulda/Shoulda had all three points. A great display, and one that leaves you truly appreciative of the effort they gave at Anfield and the 3 points we managed that day.

The title race is slimming to two clubs. Liverpool with the bit in their teeth surely now. at Carrows Road suddenly an opportunity to end City's threat. Can Sunderland repeat their work at Stamford Bridge on the weekend?

You don't normally hear this from an Arsenal fan. But thank you Tony Pulis. Thanks to Palace, Arsenal will be Top 4 heading into the weekend. Honestly, I expected Everton to slip up against someone like City, United or even Southampton, Crystal Palace never crossed my mind.

Let me clarify. When I said that I expected Everton to slip up in those 3 games, what I meant was that if Everton were gonna slip up, it was gonna be in one of those 3 games.

And I can't, for the life of me, see anywhere Arsenal could legitimately drop points. The likeliest trap game has to be Hull this weekend. Newcastle's gone into freefall, West Brom can't hold a lead if they get one and Norwich is just flat out disappointing. And 2 of those are at home, where Arsenal hasn't lost in the EPL since opening day.

Thought Palace done a good job last night, was under a bit of early pressure but after that it was a good game with both teams having chances, Mile Jedinak is the middle of midfield was immense for Palace, and I thought Yannick Bolasie has his best game yet for Palace.
