If facing a goal line situation this Sunday, I pray we do not keep trying to ram it up the middle on the ground similar to the Panthers' strategy. Rarely works vs. 49ers, and even the Beast isn't necessarily going to miraculously change that.

Until Bevell calls for a sweep or pass and we get endless Bevell sucks threads.

His ineptness has more than earned the criticism that's aimed his way, like it or not.

I think they need to call a run up the middle and have Marshawn visibly flip off Bevell as he lines up in the backfield to throw the defense off. ;-)

You guys were killing him earlier this season for passing in goal line situations. Now he's an idiot if he tries to rush it in. Got it.

Yeah I remember after the Tampa game people were pissed at passing on the goal line, myself included. But I do agree that we should try to change it up a little to catch them off guard. Whether it be a screen or a sweep. Let's get mrob involved. :)

I was not happy with the run on first and goal from the 9 Saturday. Marshawn got 1 yard and then there the team is in an obvious passing situation. Would have much preferred a pass or even a draw, something besides a basic handoff, maybe a designed rollout? From the 5 in however, Beast me baby!

singleback 4 wr / 3wr 1tE set seems optimal, since it spreads the defence out and makes it easier to run, or they stay in heavy package and its an easy quick throw to the slot guy

I think you crowd the line and do a slant or a reverse or a run towards the edges or cross cross or something

What kills the O in those situations is penetration by the defense.

Any penetration at the point of attack usually results in no gain or a loss.

I'd like to see the Hawks line up in a two-back I formation and have MRob lead-block for Marshawn between the tackles, preferably going left behind Bowie and Okung.

Or... in the pistol with Marshawn and Percy on either side of Russell... and run the read option.

I would run it three times from either of those formations... okay, maybe two times... and then play action.

Fran Tarkenton used to fake the running back into the line and roll out himself to either side and most times scored with no one touching him.

I've never understood why we don't do that, especially when we have a Tarkenton type of QB.

I think on first down, 49ers are going to come out with 11 men all bunched together like a rugby scrum right in front of the right tackle, leaving the receivers wide open and uncovered with no safeties back for deep coverage. Just 11 defenders in one tiny spot, right in front of right tackle, clustered together like men crowded on an elevator.

In this formation, Seattle will run Lynch off right tackle.

Right there with you on this subject. For the life of me, I can't see why they haven't done this at least a bit. Every time we've tried, to my memory it's been quite successful. Arguably, they're saving it for the "big games," but hey, when you're in the playoffs, every game is a "big game."
