I agree it’s been gone for years. Some of the blame falls on the fans (though it’s not cheap to go to the games) but the players have to look in the mirror and wonder why hometown fans aren’t showing up anymore

I worked in Seattle when the Donks were in town. Fans were pumped. Our fans mostly said “Something to do.” Donk fans paid for airline tickets and seats. We sold them. I get it. I sell my timeshare in Chelan for the summer to pay for the rest of the year.

Bob Condotta writes that home-field advantage has virtually disappeared in the NFL. So it's not just the Seahawks.

Home teams in the NFL have lost more games than they've won. That's a crazy statistic. Apparently teams everywhere are experiencing the same thing as the Seahawks.

Condotta also cites rising ticket prices as a possible reason for season ticket holders to sell their tickets. Seahawk ticket prices are about in the middle of the NFL.

The article may be behind a paywall:

Yeah, I think we're seeing what the Super Bowl has become on a smaller level. The die-hards who go to scream their heads off are being priced out. That leaves a lot of seats being handed out as corporate gifts, and people who see it as more of a status thing. Granted, it's not just the franchises causing it with ticket increases; the middle class as a whole has less disposable income.

Sign of the times. I hope it circles back around sooner rather than later.
