25 games into the season obviously isn’t a large sample size, but there has been a nice upward trend of the offense in 2025.
Also a few categories that still need serious improvenent.

Are we seeing improved offensive stats from the coaching changes? Or is it just business as usual?

A few offensive stats and MLB ranking

Avg #22nd ranked at .229
HR #7 ranked with 34
OPS #10 ranked with .718
Slug #16 ranked at .389
RBI. # 11 ranked with 106
Runs #10 ranked with 113
Hits #18 ranked with 192
BB # 1 ranked with 111
So. #29 ranked with 233
SB. #3 ranked with 33

Obviously, the big question is can they keep it up? Nice start, let's see how things go as the season (and the weather) heats up.

Of course not, but this sure if fun. If my math is right, after going 3-7, they are like 11-4.

No amount of denial by anyone can change the fact that 11-4, while playing good teams, is pretty damn impressive. And a pleasant surprise.

Seeing top 10 in runs scored, OPS, and walks makes me care waaay less about batting average and strikeouts.

My big question would be.. if its working well now.. why would they not unless someone went and threw a wrench into the routine? Whatever is going on in the clubhouse.. dont stop it now

Interesting that two current Ms and two former Ms hold 4 of the top 8 for most HRs in the majors currently:
  • Eugenio Suárez (Arizona Diamondbacks) - 10 home runs
  • Cal Raleigh (Seattle Mariners) - 10 home runs
  • Mike Trout (Los Angeles Angels) - 9 home runs
  • Corbin Carroll (Arizona Diamondbacks) - 9 home runs
  • Tyler Soderstrom (Oakland Athletics) - 9 home runs
  • Jorge Polanco (Seattle Mariners) - 9 home runs
  • Aaron Judge (New York Yankees) - 8 home runs
  • Teoscar Hernández (Los Angeles Dodgers) - 8 home runs

I figured that all of the analytics that worked so well for pitchers didn't work so well for hitters. All the emphasis on exit velocity had hitters swinging wildly and harder than they needed to in the vain search for doubles and homers. Don't get me wrong, homers and doubles are great, but if you can't make contact with the ball, swinging hard just leads to pulled muscles and amusing spinouts at the plate.

The more traditional "see ball, hit ball" approach that Edgar brings seems to be working. Better plate discipline and swinging for contact gets you more walks and hits and men on base. If you work on that, the homers will come naturally. Trying to force them is a waste of energy.
