Don't get me wrong, I am NOT sold on Darnold, but Geno at times acted like a 5 year old, in game and on sidelines. His odd temper tantrums, other times just pouting on the bench with a towel over his head and even his press interactions just seemed awkward and strange. Personally I'm glad he is gone and wish him nothing but the best, and I hope to God Darnold pans out but this will be an interesting season for sure.

Pretty how much how I view the whole Geno situation too.

The only thing I would add is while I hope Darnold hits, even if he doesn't I still think it was the smart move by Seattle to move on. It's a smart contract so if Darnold is a fluke you can regroup and get your guy of the future. Geno had at most a couple of years left anyway and then you're in the same situation. Unless you think this team can win a SB with Geno it was the best move for the team moving forward even if Darnold flames out.

Do you think the team can win a Super Bowl next season if we have one of the top elite QB?

I don't get what's so divisive about this.

We've always wanted players with chips on their shoulders - so why do we get all pissy when these guys have chips on their shoulders? This is barely even a chip, honestly.

He wanted to be given a couple of years of security. Didn't even ask for top-12 QB money. Seattle didn't want to give it, Las Vegas did. Geno discusses why that mattered to him. Why is this controversial?

I get that people are going to think I'm just glazing Geno here, but... seriously, how is this inspiring so much anger? It's an incredibly, incredibly mild quote.

Can someone explain to me what's wadding the fanbases collective panties here?

The proper way to handle that from Geno's perspective would have been to say just that. Say "I was hoping for a few more years guaranteed, we saw things differently and I am glad to be in Vegas"

There was absolutely no disrespect used by Seattle here, his offer was MORE than fair, and in context his use of the word to describe the situation was immature and inappropriate

Please indulge ole toffee on this subject of 'respect'.

A homeless person felt disrespected by all.

An apartment renter felt disrespected by homeowners, but the homeless person thought that the renter was an entitled brat.

A Condo owner felt disrespected by sfh owners, but the homeless and renters thought that the condo dude was an entitled brat.

In the case of Geno Smith, the Hawks paid him Honda Civic money. Did he pay at Rolls-Royce level? A big "HELL NO" from the geNOs and a "NO YET" from the Geno fanboys, but he did play at BMW or Infinity level. What he wanted, I speculate, was to be loved as a Bimmer. I used the word love, he used the word respect, semantics. lol.

maybe? I doubt it thoug but I think they can in the next couple of years and a 37 year old Geno in two years wasn't going to do it so I would rather have a team trying to win one rather than just being content with 8-10 wins a year and zero playoff wins. Someone talked about it but really you want your team to be terrible so they can rebuild or elite and contending each year. The past few years we've been neither. We have been worse than the Rams and Niners in our own division and that was before paying Geno more money. That approach just didn't make sense. Is it risky? Sure but the process is right I think.

Sorry I confused you, my bad. Hypothetically, if we have an elite QB ie, Mahomes etc., playing with our current roster, can we go to SuperBowl? I am with you that Geno can't do it with the current roster, can Mahomes or Allen do it?

I do believe they would take them into the playoffs each year and win about 11-12+ games consistently. Mahomes or Allen with DK, JSN, and Lockett at WR.....no doubt about it. If Geno can win 9 with that team, Mahomes and Allen can win 11+. In the playoffs, who knows? I do know they are much better QBs than Geno is. So there's that.

Because the Hawks were the ONLY team to even give him a chance. How in the world are they "disrespecting" him??? He was offered a nice chunk of change and turned it down. It has been made known that the Hawks offered in that 40 range a year and that he didn't want to engage.
He's a big baby. I don't fault him for wanting to get that bag, players should do that. But he sounds like a whining, spoiled baby.
Russ has been getting blasted for 3 plus years. Why is it surprising that some of us are going to blast Geno?
It was a good thing when Russ was traded, and it's a good thing that Geno was traded. Sometimes you gotta' rip off that band-aid.
Disrespect? Cry me a fricken river, geGONE. Go be a turnover machine that can't beat Top Tier teams in Vegas. Enjoy.

Sherm is an all timer for me but I think it's possible that both he and Geno suffer from low T. Sherm just never could get over the Int (aka worst pass in SB history). I'm not exactly sure what Geno was always moping around about.
His body language, as often as not, suggested he might have just lost his dog.

I can see why Geno Smith feels disrespected the Seahawks should have given him the fully guaranteed contract that Deshaun Watson got
Apparently Geno didn't get enough massages to reach the Watson level of guaranteed contract. So he just wasn't feeling the Seahawks offer.
