They better do some serious upgrades to the Oline because Darnold or any available QB they bring in will not handle the pressure as well as Geno did last three seasons.

I want to stay on the site. It ran it's course. Had a good run. Once I saw that I was annoying people, I was good stopping. It was never personal. He's gone, I'm happy. Good enough.

Darnold is a lesser Geno. Plus arm talent, good with timing throws, willing to take shots... but also not as accurate, athletic, or poised in the pocket. But he's younger so I can see the calculus being Darnold is minus a bit in talent, but if we upgrade our OL, it's a wash and then he's a potential 5+ year plan vs. Geno who was 2-3 max.

Everybody and their mother seems to think the Darnold to Seahawks thing is all but a done deal, so I'm reconciling myself to it. The plus for me is that if this is true, we might just be going all-in on Kubiak's run focused offense and still have hope for a winning season next year.

At the worst, I think Darnold is basically equivalent to Derek Carr (not the same type of talent, just equivalent talent levels) and he was able to look pretty good when NO had everything humming on offense. Is Walker + Charbs as our version of Kamara with Darnold playing game manager able to produce the same highs as that? I think there is an argument to be made.

It won't be the same highs as what we'd have gotten with Geno in the same offense but that would have had a fast-approaching expiration date and if the Darnold experiment works, then we are set for much longer.

At least, that's what I'm telling myself right now.
Now you're pissing me off. Threatening me with 5+ years of Sam Darnflynn. I could try stomaching a year as a bridge. Not 5+
Also, if he's got potential to win a Super Bowl, why would Vikings let him walk so easily. McCarthy is still such an unknown.

Well, the 5+ is if the Darnold experiment works (Spoiler: I have my doubts.)

It's essentially rolling the dice that if you hit with Darnold, you've got a foundation. If they fixed everything and got the offense humming next year with Geno, you still only have another year, 2 tops.

I've been one of those who downgraded this year's QB draft but have changed my mind due to circumstances. One reason I am so high on Dart is because his greatest strengths are exactly what Kubiaks offense depends on to be successful.
Geno is an upgrade over Darnold. Pete knows that and he also knows Russ is not a viable option. Thing is Geno's strengths are not the best match for our new offensive scheme, at least not as he has exhibited to date. I think Darnold's greatest strengths were the team around him last year as he never showed that well previously.
This is something I do not want us to be revisiting year after year. I'm too old for that! Lets find a QB that we can depend on for several years to play with the upgrades we can now get for our positions of need.

Well,I am older than you, so I also hear the clock ticking!

I wanted Seahawks to try to trade up to #9 with Bears and get Bo Nix. I still think that would have been good for both teams.

They could do it this year for the #10 pick, but I don’t know whether there is a QB the Seahawks could get at #10 who looks as good as Nix did last year.

If he was capable, it would’ve been done with that very strong Minny team.

I’m in the start Howell, draft a guy category

Having the advantage of seeing Nix play a year of nfl ball it would be easy to convince me there is no QB in this years draft that could be as good. But, you never know until it happens.

Look, I have my doubts about Donald being the long-term answer. But if you can get him for less money and you draft a QB to hedge your bet, it was the right move. I know with 100% certainty that Geno wasn't the answer.

Still have my doubts about Nixs ceiling, but he definitely proved his tape was right.

Year to year opt out….groom the draft pick…

Drop his ass when the youngsta is ready.

If we sign a long-term with Darnold, I’ll lose faith in JS…like…for real for real
