One things for sure, this team is going to be a lot different next season. I can't imagine paying Darnold a huge chunk either.

He’s one of the top free agents available. He won’t come cheap.

IMO I’d rather go with Howell and draft a qb until something hits.

I would too. And maybe sign a Mariotta to add to that.

Rumor is market for Darnold has been pretty low. Might get him for half of what Geno will be signing with Vegas.
If they can get him for under 30M , I'd be ok with that. It would be good to have an experienced guy there.

I don’t see Sarnold coming for $30 million per year average. Sure they could structure a deal with a lower first year hit but overall I don’t see it for that money over the whole contract.

I guess, but it seems like a weird move?

I mean, we aren't privy to everything that goes on and there is a decent chance that a lot of this has personal component to it.

I honestly have doubts that this was a master plan on our end and it was just a confluence of events that are forcing our hand.

What Schneider and Macdonald do from here will be interesting...
