Wow. I wonder how Russ feels about this. He was probably feeling pretty secure when pickett was traded. Now, whatever you think of fields, there may be a competition for the starting job or at the very least a much shorter leash for Russ.

if russ falters and gets replaced by fields, that just might finish his career.

I doubt RW is concerned at all. Fields comp pct is nowhere near the level of Russell.

Fields is garbage. However, I don't like the trade for Howell either. Howell is a better QB than Fields.

I don’t “want” neither of them either but all things being equal I’d gave pulled the trigger for the Fields deal

I think the Steelers are done trying to build an offense around the QB. And going with what Arthur Smith has done which is build offenses around RBs from his many stops.

If Arthur Smith had even average QB play he would still be the HC in Atlanta.
