Shooting my shot, we trade up somehow and draft him.. He just feels like a guy Schneider falls for and Carroll cant talk him out of.

I struggle with Maye. He's super raw and probably closer to Will Levis than anyone else. The footwork and accuracy can be a huge problem.

With that said. I think Maye in a few seasons could be awesome. He has the arm and legs. I don't think I like him enough to trade up for him. For me, there is a lack of pocket awareness and lack of game feel. We'll see if he develops them.

As of this moment, I'm out on Maye. I would be willing to trade up for Jayden Daniels though.

Agreed he is very good. Also agree he is very raw, and will benefit sitting behind a guy like Geno.

He's a lock for the top 3 (probably 2) and we don't have the capital to realistically trade up high enough, especially without that second rounder. You're talking probably our next two first rounders plus other picks, along with whatever wed give up for this year. Maye is good, but he isn't THAT good. Our margin of error with our remaining picks over the next few years would be razor thin.

He's got everything you'd ever want from a franchise prospect other than the seasoning.

He needs a year, but he's as good of a ball of clay that's come out in several years. He can sling it, he's got a good release, he can throw off-platform, he's mobile, he has the innate ability to throw from different launch angles, he's got a prototype build, and he already knows what it's like to have to operate with little to no help from his team.

He's got upside that is a mixture of Josh Allen and Justin Herbert. His downside is pretty much wholly dependent on the team and situation he goes to in my estimation.

He'd be an absolutely excellent fit for us in particular, but it'd be beyond costly to acquire him.

He would seem to be the perfect fit if you're keeping Geno because he needs a year or two. I really like him as well but not sure they are in a position to get him. Maybe they move DK or something and generate some draft capital?

Personally, I think JS is meeting with those two because it'll take focus off others. He just doesnt draft QBs high. ...all the way back to GB. You don't think a new head coach would want to personally interview a QB they're taking that high? I bet JS said no one's allowed to talk with, or even about, their top prospect. It's all subterfuge. They'll do visits with both of them and talk them up... then take someone else in the 2nd or 3rd or 4th.

He has had a "high" pick so seldomly; when has a top QB prospect even been available to him? He has picked in the top half of the first round in three drafts, and in each, the next QB to go off the board wasn't until significantly later.

2010 (picks 6, 14): next QB was Tim Tebow at 1.25, followed by Jimmy Clausen at 2.48
2012 (pick 15): next QB was 28-year-old Brandon Weeden at 1.22, followed by Brock Osweiler at 2.57
2023 (pick 5): next QB was Will Levis at 2.33, followed by Hendon Hooker at 3.68

I thought I read that he had to be talked out of taking Russ much higher than he ended up going too. I don't think he necessarily has any philosophy about not drafting QBs early, the ideal situation for it just hasn't come up. I doubt he would have passed on Stroud had he fallen to us last year. He didn't have high picks in Green Bay either, and if he had, they had Aaron Rodgers on the team anyway.

I think it's more likely he's just talking to these guys in case one of them has an unexpected draft day fall and becomes available in a more reasonable trade-up spot. Like if New England addresses QB prior to the draft, they could pass on Maye/Daniels and take Marvin Harrison Jr at 3, and then neither the Cards nor Chargers are likely to take a QB in the two picks after. Regardless, it's not like they have a limited number of combine interviews.

Drake Maye will be the day 1 starter if Seahawks draft him. You don’t move up that far for a guy who will sit behind Geno

I too have a 'gut' feeling about the draft.
A deep guttural since 76' feeling mixed mostly with disappointment and hints of glory that leads me to believe it will be more functional practicality and less a huge splash.
I predict one trade down from 16 and when the dust settles our first two picks are a DT and OG.
Rick Mirer & Dan McGwire really did a number on some of us. LOL

If there is one guy in this class that I would give up the farm for, it's Jayden Daniels.

He’s not a top 5 pick but may very well go top 5. There‘s going to be some high upside/high value QB’s near our pick.

If JS is thinking QB in the first I would rather trade back a few spots and pick up a late second round pick.

I can’t think of very many teams who moved into the top five and that player was really worth it.
