I don’t know why the Seahawks didn’t add it to the article but WR Michael Briscoe was also waived.

He was released due to failing to disclose an injury, which would void his guaranteed money. Seems like the Seahawks are not announcing much because it's possible a grievance could just land him on IR.

Thanks ‘storian’! This was certainly a bit on the down low for sure. Do suspect you could be right.

Of course it also could be enthusiasm to get a shot to play in the NFL. Unfortunate for the player. When I saw the reason at ESPN I wondered whether this might have been an intentional deceit on Briscoe’s part which isn’t a good look.

Dante Fowler's "Up to $5,000,000" is, in fact a $2.5M deal with additional incentives that are not likely to be earned (unspecified at this point). What's worse is, the only guaranteed dollars are the $500,000 signing bonus so it's conceivable he could be cut loose depending on how the competition goes with the younger edge players.

Factoring the expected cap figure for our unsigned first round draft pick, the team will be sitting at just around $29M in available cap headed into training camp barring any other moves.

Thanks kidhawk, as ever always appreciated!!!

The trade is for a conditional 2028 7th rd pick according to fieldgulls.com:

These ST positions will be hotly contested with numerous players as potential depth, the team now/will have several candidates for depth at the gunner position and for a number of other ST positions.

Will update once the team announces the trade which is the first for this new season by the team.

Here is a WIKI about this player: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irvin_Charles

Thank you my friend!!!

You guys are all over this stuff and super quick to pass on the info.

Updated including the Charles trade as the team has announced the trade. It seems unlikely he will fail a physical to my mind.

We are up to date for now.

The Vikings are to be signing Seahawks Asst. GM -Nolan Teasley to be their new GM.

I wonder if the team will get a comp pick as a result? Does anyone know how that works when FO staff are hired away.?

ESPN’s Brady Henderson on May 7 reported that if the Vikings were to hire Teasley, Seattle would receive a compensatory third-round pick in each of the next two drafts (2027 and ’28).

Thanks kidhawk!!!

Here’s another article on this:

There is both good and bad in this as undoubtedly a few more of the FO staff will go along with Teasley and a greater insight into the Hawks scouting and operations will be gathered by Minnie. Two 3rds is good compensation but may not be enough for what is given up. There will obviously be promotions within the Hawks organization so maybe some fresh thinking will come from this or even new outside blood.

An extra 3rd in the next two drafts for sure will allow real early draft movement and/or solid acquisitions.

Huge loss IMO. The seahawks.com biography provides insight into the depth of the Teasley loss ..........

Helping manage the development of the current roster with the club's Performance team, Teasley helps with the implementation of the use of data within the scouting process, and manages the ongoing communication between the scouting, research, and analytics departments. He continues to be involved in the club's draft process throughout and evaluate talent from NFL rosters and practice squads throughout the year. In his previous role, he and the pro scouting staff were integral in the team's strategy for attacking unrestricted free agency, the undrafted free agent process and year-round trade analysis. Among his prior duties, he scouted future opponents, coordinated free agent visits and tryouts, and monitored NFL transactions.

Must say I agree, more pressure now will be on JS though we will see who gets promoted and/or added to the FO. Am speculating personally Jim Nagy could be grabbed back from Oklahoma. The 2 3rds is weak compensation but the Hawks FO staff is truly stronger than many believe.
