They’ve already designated Surratt and Arroyo to practice. Assuming they both get activated as is the norm after practicing then we have one slot left and that’s likely for Holani.
This injury to Charbs would change things. Surratt isn't a priority (if there is any realistic hope on Tory), so Holani and Arroyo are the priorities. The IR slots are used on activation to the roster, not being activated to practise in case anyone is unclear.

This is an enormous loss...Charbs imo is the better back vs the Rams. Either way no more 1 2 punch. No one else is gonna step up into this role.

Macdonald has already said that Horton is done. I know people want to hold out hope but we will have to wait until next season.

Btw, I know a lot of people let special teams get lost in the list of importance, but Surratt was a talent on our special teams.

Time for Sam/KLINT and the passing game to take it up a notch! And before anybody gets bent tf outta shape, I fully believe they can and will!

Agreed. We're not trying to solve for an entire season. We're trying to solve for 8 quarters, max.

I feel bad for Charbs because he deserves to suit up for these next two games if the Seahawks advance.

But Walker is running with fire and fervor at the moment and the most ive ever seen him be direct and decisive. So, Im not worried about the running game as much as it hurts to lose Charbs, and when Charbs went down I think Walker got more and more physical with his runs like he told Charbs, “Ill carry your soul with me my brother”

The depth though is definitely concerning. Stay healthy, Walker.

You are definitely allowed your
Opinion but in two games against the Rams so far, what is it that makes you think he’s the better back against the Rams?

Is it his 20 carries for 69 yards and 1 TD?

He’s definitely the better blocker and we will miss that but we can scheme that with other players.

Purely running and purely against the Rams K9 has been clearly better with 27 carries for 167 yards and 2 tds.

I’ll miss Charbs and I hate that he can’t be here but our game plan should have been heavy K9 either way.

well he didn't officially did he? He used really vague language about "planning on not having him". This is not a categorical ruling out as you would normally see with coaches in situations where a player is done for the year. For instance, Cody White just a little bit earlier in the season.
Surratt was a useful ST player but would definitely be lower down the pecking order than Horton or Holani (especially now) or Arroyo

You win the award for most mentions of "charbs" in a .NET post.

I really want Holani back out there, though.

If only for the reason that among the backs we have on the team, he's the next-best Pass-blocker we have after Charbs.

Coach Macdonald is almost always vague when discussing injured players. He wouldn’t even actually say what is wrong with him. But every sign points to him being out for the year. If you want to hold out hope you can but I believe the tr will activate players that they want to play for us in the next two games. Right now Holani is likely the next targeted return. They can let Arroyo or Surratt just go back to IR permanently but honestly I don’t know if the rules would count that against the limited number of returns or not.

K9 put up way better stats in both of those Rams games.

Rather have Charbs on 3rd down though.

Definitely going to miss Char-Bone. But, as mentioned in this thread, K9 has been looking real good.

He’s not doing that whole lateral dancing thing.

Just means that we’ll play like most teams. K9 gets a breather on most pass plays. RB2 should be an effective pass blocker.

We mix it up once in awhile…pass when K9 is in… maybe run RB2.

I love Charb and he really made a case to be RB1. Simply blessed to have them both.

But, I’ll take that last game version of K9 over any back in the league. He’s that damn good.

Sucks for Charb but we’re loaded gents. Holani can ball (if ready). Jones has looked pretty damn impressive when given the opportunity.

Love Zach but this hasn’t changed my outlook on the least bit.

Let’s not use wrong language regarding injuries; he isn’t expected to be back this year but if we last all the way to Feb then sounds like Hawks aren’t ruling it out as impossible. None of us know if/when he turns a corner.

So my understanding is that It’s not an elevation to the roster so no it wouldn’t count against the quota. There is no obligation for them to be elevated after being designated available to practise.

And yes I think it’s a 5% chance Tory could ever make it back for the SB but it’s nice to have a little hope. Mike left it open ended so it’s not impossible. You will get a good indication this week whether they elevate both Surratt and Holani or just Holani. If it’s just Holani I will quietly increase that % of hope.
