It doesn't matter if it was advanced or not, it was a lateral not a fumble so those rules don't apply.

Charb picked up the ball not to be all sportsman-like but did it.....JUST IN CASE.

And voila! "JUST IN CASE" happened.

You can see him on the replay like i said above, lol at the line judge signaling live ball. Then at another angle you can see he’s the only player to not only picked it up, but whole others causally get up and walk away a he jogs to the ball.

It was a certainly a lucky break for our team without any doubt, but sometimes you need to be lucky to be good.

For sure however the team showed grit and perseverance in coming from behind and MM's big balls decision to go for 2 with approx 3 minutes left in OT was truly gutsy.

Charb was to be the recipient of that backward pass, he knew that there was a chance that it was a live ball. He knew.

Charb was to be the recipient of that backward pass, he knew that there was a chance that it was a live ball. He knew.

Yep. And everyone saying he nonchalantly picked up the ball, sure, but one else was even moving towards the ball. He's completing the action he knows is the right thing to do, regardless of the urgency to get there. He didn't need to all out sprint to the ball, no one else was even paying attention. Kudos to Charb for knowing the rules, and knowing to ignore the whistle.

I'm getting annoyed at the pundits who didn't do a little research on the rules before their shows. I get not fully understanding the rule (I didn't before it happened), but don't open your mouth on national media before making sure you're right.

A couple of specific call-outs of Rich Eisen and Colin Cowherd. Eisen especially is usually better than that.

I am one of those who believe Charbs had no idea at all if that was a live ball. If he had known, he would have dived on it in the endzone, instead of nonchalantly reaching down and picking it up as if it was dead ball after a play. That's exactly what his body language said to me.

I suppose we may never know exactly what he was thinking, or why he nonchalantly picked up that ball.

Probably the ball was at his feet. it's what anyone would do.. pick up the ball... just 2nd nature I guess.

It's been what they have been coached since pop warner. Multiple players and coaches have verified that is standard protocol for a loose ball, and they coach it week in and week out.
