Nah they are coached to do that on plays like that just in case it was backwards so there's a clear recovery. You see it off obvious incompletions all the time on the off chance it becomes a fumble. Definitely a coached thing to make a clear recovery

They covered this in the post game presser, and you are correct. They are taught to recover all loose balls on offense and defense for this exact reason.

I don't think I've ever laughed over something in a football game more than that conversation.

In the stands we were so confused at the time why they were reviewing the play. Since it was not a called a score, I was curious why replay was initiated. Didn’t sound like Seahawks challenged the play. Does anyone have any insight on that one? Also I was pretty shocked that they took the Kupp fumble out to the 20.

Luke Willson knows this feeling of being in the right spot to cash in on 2 points.

I think Charbs picked that up with a purpose, it was not by accident based on him saying they coached to do that on all plays. But in that instant I think he was just doing what he's supposed to do, I don't think for an instant he thought the play was still live

In n the Kupp fumble the Ram player was ruled to not have had full control until he reached the end zone this a touchback.

On theb2 point conversion I was explaining to my wife that even though we didn’t make it we are still only a FG away from winning the game when I heard they were reviewing if it might be a backward pass. I looked to the tv and saw an overhead replay where you could clearly see the ball moving slightly backwards before bouncing off the helmet and Charbs picking it up. Also Charbs picks it up after a Ram player failed to recover it. The whistle never blew and we were all tied up.

Truly bizarre.

Because of what happened, going forward, I bet we start seeing a lot more players in the NFL scoop balls off the turf "just because."

The big question should be, it sounded like the whistle blew a couple of seconds before Charbonet picked up the ball. Why was anything after the whistle blew allowed to stand?

You’d think this and coaches at all levels preach it.

Even in HS, whoever is closest to the ball returns it to the ref…more as a matter of respect.

In college and definitely the NFL, that respect fades away.

Good on Zach!!

It was the right call

Lucky, hell yeah. But a little luck goes along ways in a tight game
Lucky that Charbs picked up that ball in the end zone and not some Rams defender.
Officials were pretty heads up on that backward pass play, that tied the game up.
