Although I have to admit that it doesn't look good for Sanchez, I'd like to see a few more details before I pass judgement. This story isn't even 24 hours old.

Hearing he's being charged with 3 misdemeanors so it's not like he attempted to kill the guy or anything.

However, the issue is not the severity of what he did.

It's the OPTICS of it for the network that he helps call games for.

I doubt CBS is going to want Sanchez front-and-center with all of this going on.

I can see (at the very least) a lengthy suspension for Sanchez while the whole legal process goes on.

And once it's done, the network will probably have to make a decision of whether it's worth bringing back Sanchez or not.

Right now, he's in deep sh*t as far as whether he keeps his Analyst/Announcer job on CBS.

Oh, I agree about the optics, and the network had no choice but to take the action they did by suspending him. They can't afford the bad PR. It's similar to what NFL Network went through with Michael Irvin a few years back. And yes, it's going to be dicey as to whether or not he returns at all.

I was just saying as a matter of my own personal opinion amidst all of the butt fumbler jokes that I was going to hold my peace for a little longer.

I agree with the sentiment. There's such a rush to judgment in our society today. A lot of innocent people get caught in the crossfire. There's not many things worse than getting falsely accused of something.

Yeah, the Duke Lacrosse team scandal had an effect on my way of thinking, as did the Atlanta Olympics bombing back in the 90's. So many news agencies and reporters are in competition with each other to be the first to break a story.

There's a lot of information about this Sanchez thing that we don't know. Who were the others involved? What was the fight about? Were the others involved armed? Who was the instigator? Were there any witnesses, and if so, what did they see and hear?

Anyhow, thanks for your comments.

In the last six months, two people in my local community have had their lives turned upside down and their professional reputations pretty much destroyed by rushes to judgments after accusations were made against them. The first person I know fairly well, and they did nothing wrong, nothing that remotely warranted the reaction against them. The second person I don't personally know at all, but I've followed their situation closely, and again, it did not come close to the negative reaction it stirred up.

This is something that hit pretty close to home to me very recently. All it takes is some accusation/allegation to be made, it gets picked up by a few bad actors, or groups that stir up such trouble, and it can turn into a social media feeding frenzy. Then more people start jumping on board with their own rushes to judgment, and soon the press gets involved, and before you know it peoples lives are turned upside down without any regard for the facts, truth, or reality.

I've seen this happen on the national stage, and even the state stage here. But this was right in my backyard.

Don't rush to judgment. Get the facts straight, put things into perspective, don't join lynch mob until you feel there's truly just cause for it.
