Geno sucks on the fueld and off and I’m so glad that we have Sam. You don’t even notice Sam, like an offensive lineman just putting in work, Sam just does his job and he is humble, you have to like a man like Sam. This team is playing like a well oiled machine and each unit is lifting up the next. We can win any game any way and that’s my kinda football. Let’s go!!!

Stoked for Thursday night football on Thursday but I hate it on Sunday
I said it once in the past here that I believe Sam would prefer to be a Cog in the Seahawks machine rather than be the machine itself (or something like that).

Anyway, I also am stoked for it because if(or rather...when) the Hawks win tomorrow night, Sunday is going to be so relaxing and enjoyable. We could fire up a barbecue, open up a cold one, while sitting back and watching NFL Redzone knowing we have our win (and a 3-1 record, and being 1-1 in the division) in the bag already.

Please win, Seahawks. Please.

^^^ Dude....you talk about collectively turning the page yet you don't seem to have turned the page from Geno yourself based on your passive-aggressive comments regarding Darnold.

Case in point :

Somebody is still salty as f*ck here that Geno is gone. View attachment 74320

Because that's the actual truth, bud. 😂

Take it from someone who actually followed his Career from then till now.

I know a ton better than you regarding Darnold and what the Jets franchise failed to do in helping develop him (ie they did NOTHING; Sam had to go to the Niners 5 years later just to BEGIN his QB development).

My god...the amount of Copium I'm reading here ("Poor Geno was treated soo badly here while Darnold is treated with Kid Gloves...OH BOO F*CKING HOO!")

Get over it, man. smh.
Your interpretation of his post is mind boggling. Were you drinking something? 😂

(though it did sound like he was putting Geno on a pedestal and trashing Darnold. Ngl)

EDIT : Actually, it didn't sound like he was doing that.....HE *IS* DOING THAT.

It was pretty well known in the NFL world that folks outside of Seattle looked at Geno more favorably than fans of the team did. Drew Lock has never shown any real ability to start consistently in the league, yet fans in Seattle saw the slightest glimmer of positive play from him as a reason he should get a chance to start.

Sam started in NY and flopped but NY is blamed for how bad he was.

Geno started in NY and flopped and it was proof he was never any good.

Geno never had to develop a pattern of 'losing games' to be labeled a failure in big moments. His first action in Seattle saw him almost bring us back against the Rams when Russ went down only to have his pass intercepted when Tyler got tripped on a PI and fell and the defender caught the ball exactly where our guy would have been. Geno wasn't given a pass then, nor was he the following week when we lost to the Steelers when the ball was knocked out of his hand in a collapsing pocket under pressure by the most feared pass rusher in the league.

Sam gets the ball knocked out of his hand on a potential game winning drive by one of the most feared defenders in the league and we lose the game, but it wasnt his fault.

Geno in relief duty when Russ went down in '21 puts on a passing clinic against the Jags (one of the worst team in the League) completing his first 15 passes and running a broken offense coordinated by a bust of an OC and it's passed off as a nothing burger because of the competition ( the Jags I think best the Bills or came close to it a few weeks later if I remember correctly).

Sam beats the worst team in the league in the Saints, plays a solid game, and is hailed for how high he ranks in several categories going into week 4.

Geno was getting MVP recognition in 22 and there was a large segment of fans who were saying 'hokd your horses .. he will 'return to form'.... Sam looks good for 3 weeks in Seattle and he 'might be our guy long term'.

Just saying, that's the reality of the temperature that was around Geno and his time as a Hawk. The double standard / half full / half empty thing isn't a fabrication. Some players pay more attention to fan opinion than others. Geno is the type to pay attention to it, to his detriment. It fuels him, and it holds him back. He no doubt felt it in Seattle.

One of the best things about him not being here is that for better or worse, this fanbase can now hopefully collectively turn the page on the Pete/Russ/ Geno era and just enjoy football without rooting interests in individual players dominating the discourse .
And yet when Darnold was signed, all anyone on this forum could talk about is how he was a downgrade from Geno.

Every starting QB in the league gets hot and cold responses from the fans. Every one of them. The NFL is a "what have you done for me lately" league, and always has been. If Darnold puts two bad games in a row out there, fans will turn on him in a hot minute.

To be fair to Geno, he was not well served by having Grubb as the OC for MacDonald's first year. Personally, I look at it as "Sam + Kubiak > Geno + Grubb". I think he'd be doing well in this year's offense.....but he didn't want to be here. As a fan - if you don't wanna be in Seattle, I don't want to cheer for you.

I'm going to push back on this. NFL execs when asked to rank the QB's always had him in the 20's which is where most Seahawks fans had him. We had a small segment that kept trying to tell us he's near top 5 and its everyone else's fault as to why he was averaging a touchdown and Int per game.

I dont think you're all wrong though and like you said hopefully we can all turn the page on those guys and root for Sam as he's our guy moving forward. I'm pumped for a guy who had almost 40 touchdowns last year and is playing really well so far this year even with a line that hasn't protected him all that well either.

It was Partly his fault.

Even I admitted that (somewhat) that he could've stepped up in the pocket a bit (though they should've doubled Bosa).

But most of the fault laid at the feet of Kubiak calling a stupid gameplan.

So we're not allowed to praise our own QB?

Oh I'm sorry...He's not your boy Geno, @keasley45 . I forgot. 🤷‍♂️

Because Sam is 7 years younger and was just coming off a near-MVP season. He still has some upside whereas Geno at his age in this point of his career is what he is. That's just the reality of things.

BTW, the jury is still out on Darnold despite the encouraging signs but even if he doesn't work out, the deal to acquire him still was the right one because Geno wanted OUT so he can go play for Daddy Carroll. And we got a draft pick out of it.
Pretty childish response Glenwo. Geno wasn't 'my boy'. I was as dubious as anyone to whether he could actually be a starter in the league before he did . I just didn't subscribe to the notion that he couldn't do it because of what he did when he was with the Jets or the fact that he wasn't given a starting nod over Eli Manning and Philip Rivers.

It's comical how you accuse me for blindly following Geno, I guess claiming I made excuses for him at every turn, yet some of the same logic I applied to him and his path to starting here or even some of his failures in games, you seem happy to apply now with Darnold. Me? I never once said Darnold couldn't succeed here. Nor have I painted his failures entirely his own. It wasn't me who looked at the Jets as a failure of an organization and difficult place for a QB to succeed for one QB who started there but not the other. They both started in a shitty spot and could be forgiven for not lighting up the place and even failing. But that simple benefit wasn't granted to Geno. Quite the contrary. It was held up constantly as proof that he was never any good and as the baseline to which he eventually would return. And every failure was evidence that he in fact was 'reverting' to his true self.

It's pretty obvious why so much hate surrounded the dude. Even moreso now that the guy that follows him gets literally the same defense from the GeNos that some here provided Geno when he didn't do everything right.

Didn't matter that arguments like Geno being a red zone failure were countered by facts that unequivocally showed he was not (32 TDs to 3 INTs) over the 2 years before Grubb came in and shat the bed. Didn't mean he didn't throw picks last year. He did. But how you saw it was a matter of whether or not you considered we were running an offense orchestrated by an OC who was so bad he will never have a job in the league again.

Errant snaps by the center that killed drives in the redzone.. Geno's fault. Center stepping on Geno's feet and killing a dive ... Geno's fault. Maybe not exactly in the moment, but if you wanted to see him as someone who was who he was at the Jets, it was better to ignore context, circumstances and fact and just pound the drum of ' he sucks' and chastise anyone who defended his play as a Geno apologist. That's just a couple of examples without going into INTs, a subject that even guys like Daniel Jeremiah stated pretty flatly were not so much a function of Geno as they were circumstances in game and the shit show offense Grub had us running.

All that to say just because I didn't worship at the feet of Me3 and called him out as a guy who succeeded despite being unable to read defense even before he left here (a fact now the whole world sees), it didn't make me the hater I and others were painted to be. Just like objectively looking at Geno through the same lens I looked at Wilson and evaluating his actual performance in context with the other variables at play doesnt make me a Geno apologist.

So, fan however you want. Despise what player you will, worship whoever you want. I don't care and am not trying to change your or anyone else's mind. Just keep my name out of your posts when you do so. I get responding to a post I make but I would think you could do that without mischaracterizing my position or insulting. It's childish. Fact is, there are facts and there are opinions, both are legitimate things in rooting for a team but they ARE different things. There are perspectives on every subject ever created. Have yours, but acknowledge others without the weird need to be condescending when you do so or dragging down their position simply because you can't or won't spend the time to actually (genuinely) consider it. I know the world we live today in seems to reward division and derision, but I would think on a fan site, we could all at least be on the same side, whatever our different perspective are.

I think most of us (all of us now that Sam is here and Geno isn't) want Seattle to win and the QB to succeed. Leave it at that.

I have never seen these execs you speak ok. Nor do I ever recall anyone who has made a living objectively analyzing QB play in the media, online, on TV networks or anywhere else put Geno in the 20s. I remember many a review stating 'the problem in Seattle is NOT GENO'. But maybe they just had a crush on the guy too. I also dont recall anyone on .net trying to make the case that he was a top 5 QB. I remember very clearly when folks had him at near top 9 or 10 when he actually was and called him top 12 to 15 when he was that (and was paid EXACTLY at that level by ownership).

The drum beat was much louder for him being well below average when until last year, he clearly was not that.

But that's neither here nor there. Will be interesting how half empty v half full the glass is when Sam encounters challenges, throws game losing INTs and the luster wears off. And that's not at all me predicting anything. I hope to hell he can get the team as far as it's capable of going. Just a comment on the shift in attitude already evident toward him v Geno. ... ' it was a bad play call...', ' it was a bad block', etc. it's cool though. Just smells like a bit of projection has been going on around here for a bit.

God Bless John63.

Yeah there’s a lot of false citation work on this site. I think the knocks on Geno during his time here were mostly unwarranted overreactions to either a single case where he pissed a particular fan off with a mistake or their inability to use the available data to help make a fair judgment of him. Bias runs rampant here.

With that said he’s looked on and off in LV and Sam looked rough week one but has picked it up the last two weeks. I see Geno on the down and Sam on the up, personally.

Both are going to make mistakes as do all other players at the position. Geno doesn’t walk on water, but I feel he had to do that here or get called trash.

Bottom line: Once a player becomes a member of the Seattle Seahawks, they should do everything in their power to remain with the team for the rest of their career, including offering a hometown discount! Nuff said!

Go Hawks!

Uh...no.

I will directly respond accordingly to any member regarding any post consisting of ridiculous takes (and that was ridiculous). 🤨

In this case, the take being : "Darnold is treated with Kid Gloves while Poor Geno was treated like trash around here"

This is basically the entire gist of your argument. (am I wrong? 🤷‍♂️ )

Then you go and imply (or suggest) that it was NOT the Jets fault that Darnold stunk when there was plenty of truth to the contrary (I should know).

And that's when I took umbrage and replied what I replied.

Perhaps you should keep Darnold out of your posts if you're going to do a woe-is-me regarding Geno, hmm?

But all that said, if you don't like what I have to say in response to such posts, you can either stop posting such nonsense or simply utilize the Ignore feature on me. (It's free, btw, and it works wonders)

Geno followed Russ and did well where a ton of folks thought he would completely flop and were embarrassed to have him as our starter. The disdain started before he even became our potential starter long term, the year before Russ left. When Russ went down with his finger injury Geno didn't do badly, but you would have thought he was the worst player in the league reading some of the reactions.
It was part the fact he followed Me3 and part his own doing, honestly. If you were on the fence with Geno it was easy to turn away from him because he didn't always make the best choices - talking emotional outbursts, getting pulled over for a dui and not keeping his mouth shut, getting into spats with fans over silly insults. All of it may have been overlooked were it not for the baggage that came with him after getting clocked in the jaw by a teammate and having to have his mouth wired shut afterwards. Roomer was he was got in a seat with the player and took the 'i'm the franchise QB ... Who are you...' immature, thin skinned attitude and paid with his face. And that's not hard to believe given how he seems to be unable to ignore insults and HAS to push back and have the last word. Thing is, that way of behaving isn't uncommon among competitive athletes. It's part of what drives them. And I think Geno built his entire career off of being told what he couldn't do and then having to prove himself.

It's funny to compare the narratives around Darnold and Geno being they ended up here under similar circumstances, though Sam put a solid year on tape to get him the job here. Geno had to put good tape up with far less than Sam had in Minny and does now. But where Sam gets a glass half full B- for a lack luster game in which he fumbled the ball away in scoring position, Geno was crucified over and over again and labeled 'unaable to close' under similar circumstances his first full year as a starter here.
One guy followed the 'Hero' and so every error was magnified. The other guy followed the guy many never wanted and when the glass could be half empty, it looks refreshing, chilled and half full.
I personally root for Geno and Sam and am entertained by the slow collapse of Me3. Geno could have been a lot better here had he not been strapped with OCs who were never qualified to be such. Sam has the benefit of playing on probably the most well coached and well balanced team we have had around here in a dozen years. I hope he takes full advantage of it and throws the doors off the place.
Two points:

I heard Geno wouldn't pay a gambling debt he owed. Got cracked in the mouth for it.

Darnold got hit from behind (kinda)
from one of the best DE in the NFL.I know a lot will say he needs better pocket awareness but it is what it is.

I said 2 points so I'll stop haha

No f'n question.

In fact, I would fully expect it but I won't be sitting here typing Woe-is-me "Poor little Darnold is being treated unfairly" unlike a certain someone saying the same for Geno.

Instead I would be all over Sam demanding he get his sh*t together.

I'm not the blind Darnold Stan some here think I am.

If he f*cks up, I would be one of the first to point that out (with plenty of colorful language).

You are Geno's john63 around here

He also claims that "Geno wasn't 'my boy' " yet he still has that signature quote by Geno under every post he makes :

Thank you Lord for the people you’ve placed in my life that continue to inspire me to always strive for more! I want us all to WIN

~ Geno Smith)

But yeah...he's definitely not his boy. Nope. 🙄

Your not wrong but Glenwo doesn't try to claim other than being a fan boy while Keasley does a lot of gaslighting around here.
If he loves Geno that's his right but he tries to claim neutrality when he is anything but when it comes to Geno.
