Not a high bar, but yes. That said, I hope he can capture some of the mojo he had with MN, because throwing 1 td per game (like Geno) isn't going to get us into the playoffs, or very far if we do get there. Hopefully he'll settle in and get more juice as the season goes along. Then again, maybe he's just a mid qb and we shouldn't get our hopes up too high. Time will tell. At least it's fun to watch again. He's better than Geno. I said what I said.

I have a question for @glenwo2 because he is the expert on all things Darnold: How did the Vikings fans feel about letting Sam go after last season? And how are they feeling about things now?McCarthy threw 2 picks and pretty much sucked for the Vikes in a 22-6 loss

There must have been a fair number of Vikings fans who thought that it was stupid to move on after a stellar 14-3 season. Ever hear of the expression, "If it's not broke, don't fix it"? Did anyone think that they would win MORE games with JJ McCarthy?
I was mistaken. I thought he only threw one. That's great that he threw two! All I'm saying is he needs to be more like last year's version of SD if we're going to have a shot at going deep in the playoffs, understanding that we will have more of a running focus. I get it.Well...nevermind the fact that he threw TWO touchdowns UNLIKE Geno (on MNF)...
What if he gets us in position for a Walker/Charbs TD instead of throwing a TD?![]()
This is what I don’t get. Belief based on what? His college tape? The OTA’s and practices before tearing his meniscus in the first pre season game? They jettisoned a 14 win vet QB for a dude that has never even finished a pre season game!! And it’s not like he was a Elway/Luck/Manning prospect. I’m not some huge Darnold fan either, as a matter of fact I believe being a ginger is a pre mortal punishment from God.Many of them were okay with letting him go because of several factors :
1.) They believed in McCarthy
I have seen more than one Vikings fan who said "Look at what Seattle gave Sam in terms of a contract. You mean to tell me Kwesi couldn't offer him THAT???"
I had a Minny number pop up on my phone yesterday, and I seriously thought it might be O’Connell wondering what my availability is. I’m 53, 30 pounds overweight, and find masturbation too aerobic. Now they're going to be stuck with the cremated remains of Carson Wentz (and his career) and Door #3(Bosmer). They also just brought in Desmond Ridder for a tryout. So things have gotten desperate in Vikings land.
That's a mighty ungrateful fanbase, to turn your back on a QB who won 14 games for you. Many of them were okay with letting him go because of several factors :
1.) They believed in McCarthy
2.) They soured on Darnold after those final 2 games (even though it was a total team fail in the playoffs against the Rams and not Darnold's fault)
Fans over there couldn't shove Sam Darnold out the door fast enough after those 2 games.
Blasphemy. With rare exception going back 30 years, quarterbacks who play for the Jets shouldn't be judged for their time with the jets.
Also, Sam had some great tape on an awful Carolina team.
Blasphemy.
Mark Sanchez should forever more be judged by the butt fumble.
EXACTLY THIS.That's a mighty ungrateful fanbase, to turn your back on a QB who won 14 games for you.
But I get it, I also thought that Darnold's success was a product of O'Connell's system, and that it wouldn't be replicated elsewhere. But whether Darnold can succeed elsewhere or not, the Viking KNEW that he could succeed in Minnesota. That's the part that doesn't make sense. Who cares if he's a system QB, if he is balling the heck out of that system? 14 win seasons don't grow on trees. I think the Vikings might regret not hanging on to Darnold.
That is definitely one of the exceptions.Blasphemy.
