The first Seahawk to wear #2 was kicker Wilson Alvarez. After going undrafted in the 1981 draft out of Southeastern Louisiana, Alvarez signed with the Seahawks on April 30, 1981.He was released on August 31, 1981. He was later re-signed by Seattle on November 25, 1981 after kicker Efren Herrera suffered an injury. Alvarez played in four games for the Seahawks during the 1981 season, converting three of seven field goals and 14 of 15 extra points. He was cut by Seattle on August 9, 1982.

I could not find any images of him. So here’s a nice pulsating 2

The first Seahawk to wear #1 was kicker Efren Herrera. He was a 1974 7th round pick of the Lions. They released him in training camp and the Cowboys signed him. He played for the Cowboys from 74-78.
On August 14, 1978 Herrera was traded from the Cowboys to the Seahawks in exchange for a fifth-round pick. He was with the Seahawks from 1978-1981. He was released prior to the 1982 season in favor of Norm Johnson. If you haven’t heard of Herrera or never saw him, go look up some of his trick plays he was involved in while with the Seahawks. Some really fun times in Seahawks history.
In September of 1982, he was released from the Seahawks and signed as a free agent with Buffalo. At the time I was working in a tire shop in Kirkland and he came in to get new tires on his little motorhome for his trip to Buffalo. I was a little fan struck at the time and when I put the new tires on, I autographed the back side of one just because. I didn’t think it was cool to ask him for an autograph because I was working so I gave him mine. He never knew. Now dot net does. :ROFLMAO:

Probably the only NFL kicker that ever went out in a pass pattern on a fake FG...as a decoy!

We are at 0 days until kickoff! The first Seahawk to wear #0 was LB Devin Bush. He was a 2019 first round pick of the Steelers. He played the 2023 season with the Seahawks.
He played in 13 games with three starts playing primarily special teams and as a backup linebacker on defense.
I’m not including an image because we are there! It’s game day. No more waiting. Bring on the season.

As a side note, this was a fun little exercise. I learned a little about the team I didn’t know or at least forgot about. Plus I discovered some players who I didn’t remember at all. I began watching this team in preseason of 1976 but clearly didn’t follow the team like I do now. Must have had too much trouble finding Wi-Fi hot spots back in the 70’s for my devices.
Just wish I’d started back on day 99 with this. Maybe next year when we are anticipating a repeat I’ll start sooner.
