Haven't we heard all off-season the plan is to play a lot of 2 TE sets? They moved Brady Russell to FB leaving just Arroyo (coming off injury already) and Barner. If that's the case you can't go into the season with just 2 TE. Wonder who they bring in. Truly to run a 2 TE offense you should have 4 on the roster. Expecting to go all season with no injuries to that position seems risky.

We signed FA Eric Saubert this offseason and have 2 UDFA as well.

But they also drafted a FB. I'm sure they have a plan

I see blocking and tackling as the top team emphasis for 2025. A point of emphasis that follows that of last year.
My major criticism of Fant has been his absolutely abysmal attempts at blocking. Outside zone run to his side, he gets pushed back to the point that the runner gets tackled for a loss. Happened way too many times to overlook.

I don't know that Fant really enjoyed the physical aspect of blocking. Just kind of playing the role. During OTAs, he seemed to follow behind the TE group from activity to activity. Instead of getting out front and leading as a seasoned veteran. Disappointing ending to his time with the Seahawks.

Replaced by a $8.813 million 4 year deal of which $6.872 million is fully guaranteed for rookie Elijah Arroyo.

I’m pretty sure that the annual salary for the draftees was already accounted for so I believe it should be a 100% cap savings.

Either way, our cap is in great shape right now so I think this move was more about them only holding GM onto him long enough to get Arroyo signed.

We're not going into the season with just 2 TE.

We had signed Veteran Eric Saubert (sp?) earlier.

You are out in front of OTC.

Those signings and release adjustments have been updated since earlier this morning. Over the Cap has since caught up with you.

And as you point out, the team cap is in great shape now.

The Seahawk's Tight Ends always come in with so much hype... it's not like they suck, they just never live up to the hype.

Its CRAZY that they couldn't trade him, the NFL must know something about him that we don't.

His salary was average for starting TE's, it's not like they were breaking the bank to keep him.

I give this choice a D grade with the opportunity to move up depending on what they do with that money.

I know it's all about how the contract is structured but 10M doesn't buy much...but it did buy us a starting TE.
