Punter Michael Dickson signed a four-year contract extension with the Seahawks on Tuesday.

I admire teams that identify the players they want to keep and build around and then not waste time extending them. The price almost always goes higher when you wait. The Eagles, Ravens, 49ers are a few of the teams that get this for the most part. Teams like Dallas do not. I also admire teams that don't waste time cutting bait with players who no longer fit their vision either from a schematic or cultural standpoint.

I guess I just admire teams that actually have a well thought out plan/vision for the kind of team they want and then stick to it. LOL

They need to get busy on the 2022 draft class as the offseason/regular season progresses (if they still need more evaluation). They've been drafting well for a few years now, and it's time to start locking up some of those picks coming due for a new contract.

I'll take my tin foil hat off shortly. I bet Dickson was going to holdout for a warm weather QB steady situation but then he saw his name on the best 50 Seahawks of all time list and then signed on the dotted line. Nice move by marketing to quell the situation before it got ugly.

I am 50/50 on the signing he probably is the best punter in the league but if I am going to sign a kicker to a high end contract for his position it would be for a top PK who can win you games, a punter is easily replaced with a UDFA or late rd draft pick. I guess though in todays NFL $4 million per year isn’t what it used to be. Mcdonald probably sees Dickson has an important part of his defense
