Not disagreeing with the idea of "tanking" per se, but this GM moved on from Hass for TJack and moved on from Russ for Geno and never really missed a beat.
Im not necessarily worried about qb under JS but he is going to live or die based on what happens to the o-line. If he cant fix it he is gone

I'd rather get Fields than Darnold. Especially with our OLine.
I don’t agree but it’s reasonable: it wouldn’t shock me if fields took off and finally got it. He’s flashed before.

You’re probably right though, the only noble people in this debate are the Geno supporters lol

You do realize that comments like this are exactly what he was talking about, right?

Agreed, but as much as we all want a better QB than Geno, ending up with a worse QB is just as likely, if not moreso.

It would appear that Pete Carroll, Chip Kelly, and Tom Brady think Geno is worth trading for and extending. 🤷‍♂️
So the Seahawks have some courage to try to be better than never winning a playoff game. Could it get worse? Sure but I’d rather take a chance than be the Mariners.

You’re going to ignore why I said it and what he said first? Seems reasonable. He literally said the whole move on from geNO side is all straw man arguments. Come on dude.

I want Justin Fields. He'll be less than $10M/per. He can duke it out with Howell for the job. And if he busts, we can take our cap hit and walk away.

He's 26 with 4 years experience. He has been showing improvement every year he's been in the league. And while he's not a big play machine, he keeps the chains moving with his arm and his legs -- which is pretty much what we need from our offense.

Oh, and Myles Garrett too.
At this point, without MLB, QB, WR1 and WR3, the headwind may just be a bit strong to talk Myles into joining us.

Its because Maelstrom constantly acts like he and Keasley are victims on this board. its repeated behavior where he does this.
They both consistently claim any argument against Geno was based on emotions and biased and every argument they made was factual, film based, and stat based.

If we had a really good OLine, great receiving options, and a solid run game, Darnold might be the better option. But we don't have any of those things soooo...

I think my concern here with all the 'this is the right move' stuff is it's looking more and more like this was Geno's plan, not ours.

Schultz comes out and reports that Geno requested the trade.

Then Condotta reports Geno's camp turned down our offer but made no counteroffer.

Then, after being on the trade block for less than 24 hours, dude gets to go play for his favorite coach, in Las Vegas, and is probably getting a bag.

And, all the reporting of who the Seahawks are 'linked' with is just a list of basically every single FA QB that essentially every team who suddenly found themselves needing a QB would supposedly be looking at. Oh, Seattle's looking at Sam Darnold? Just like the Jets, Giants, Steelers, etc., etc. But don't worry, we're super-special-secret looking at him...

But we have a ton of cap space and time to fix this stuff. I honestly think even one high level guard and letting the other guys on the roster battle it out for the other spot improves the line quite a bit with a new staff and offense. If John can’t figure it out then you may be right.

My read on the situation is that Geno's in-house request triggered DK's public request. DK is not staying on his last year of contract with a team void of a starting QB. DK's public request forced Schneider's hands into taking the Raiders trade.

I'll admit, I'm really cynical about our ability to field a decent OLine at this point. It's been a problem for a long time and has only gotten worse recently despite their ongoing attempts to address it. It's not like they aren't trying. They are. It just never works. Is 1 more 3rd round pick going to fix it? Good lord I frickin hope so, but it's awfully damn hard to believe that it actually will.

That’s fair but I’m going to give Macdonald a year to make his mark. Maybe he forces a change in philosophy and John self scouts and they do a better job. It wasn’t working with Geno either so why not try something different

I don't think I'm ignoring anything. He said something about strawman arguments from the GeNos, and then you responded with a strawman argument. You kinda proved his point. Or at the very least, provided a good example of exactly what he was talking about. 🤷‍♂️

Boy I hope they try something different, because whatever approach they were trying to fix the OLine has been a disaster.

Worst case scenario: we are the same middling 9-10 team we've always been in recent years.

Best case scenario: it all works out and we are awesome next year and our quarterback is MVP.

Second best scenario: we suck and we're in great position to draft a franchise altering player.

There are far worse scenarios than being a 9-10 win team.
