If you were Brady or Pete, which one of these QBs would you sign to bridge?

1. Matthew Stafford - 37 yo - may need a 2rd-round pick for a trade. 2024 PFF 74.7
2. Russell Wilson - 36 yo - FA. 2024 PFF 77.5
3. Geno Smith - 34 yo - may need a 4th-round pick for a trade. 2024 PFF 82.5

Three aging QBs, all available to the Raiders, all lost a step or two, but were productive in 2024

Raiders' OL was rank #26 by PFF, not good, but better than Hawks' #30 or Steelers' #27, but far from Rams' #14. But Raiders have Chip Kelly as OC.

In this scenario, RW if the price is right.

LOL on the remotest consideration of RW who's game has been revealed as outdated and incomplete.

For me none of the above. It's time for the team to get younger at QB and if needed cycle through a few candidates until the right guy is found.

If not labouring in mediocrity will undoubtedly the outcome.

Young QB has a lot of advantages, rookie contract for one, development for two. Young QB, ie unproven quality also carries its own risk, for every successful young QB, there are two that didn't work.

Having a proven bridge allows a team the flexibility of drafting someone who needs a bit more development. A lower rounder that has a low floor but a high ceiling.

Besides, Pete is 73 or 74, on a 3 year contract, he might want to enjoy some instant success, which is easier with a bridge instead of starting a rookie.

Given the author, I assume this isn't a serious thread, and I don't see how it's any different than the 50 other threads he has started on this exact topic, but I'll respond anyway in case there are posters in here unfamiliar with his schtick.

The Rams arent auctioning off Stafford to the highest bidder. They allowed him to go out and seek a trade. He's not going to choose the Raiders at where he is in his career. It wouldn't make a ton of sense for the Raiders anyway.

There's no reason they should want anything to do with Russ. He's the antithesis of what a rebuilding team should be looking for, even as a "bridge QB". Pete might not be the GM, but Russ isn't exactly a guy I can see him beating the drum for.

Geno is only in this thread to bait someone into saying something where he can talk about "GeNos". Geno is very unlikely to be traded, and at what it would cost to make it worth it for Schneider, the guys the Raiders already have are just as capable for what they need as Geno.

I don't think they look for a bridge QB anyway. Like sc85 said, Darnold makes a lot of sense for them. Otherwise, if they can land Shadeur, they probably just start him.

I chose Me3, I just want to see Pete deal with him again because I had
to put up with watching that clown 3-5 years too long.
Only reason why he didn't get traded sooner was because of Pete, they
deserve each other to the end.

I replied to the question as GENO, because I want a "fresh start". If I were any coach, I would take Stafford.

After 14 years he's been "revealed". That's a good one. He finds ways to be successful.

Putting aside the fact that Me3 rewarded Pete's years of unconditional support by stabbing him in the back with a knife bigger than his ego, I'm seeing very little benefit to the Raiders bringing him in as a "bridge QB".

He either can't or won't play within a system. And when he inevitably fails because he can't accept his fading physical capabilities, he'll have his people blame everyone else behind the scenes. Again.

He's an offensive line's worst nightmare. It's hardly a coincidence that after replacing Russ with Bo Nix, the Broncos' OL went from bottom quarter to arguably the best in the NFL last season (#1 rated by one of the main sites that does that), despite basically the same personnel and coaches.

What does he actually do that you'd want your young, impressionable potential franchise QB to learn? You don't want him emulating Russ' play. I havn't seen any indication that he's a good mentor to other QBs. All the backups Me3 has had over the years, and the only one of them to go on to do anything was the one who had also previously learned under Ryan Fitzpatrick, Philip Rivers, and Eli Manning.

I can't imagine Pete advocating for it, and I would hope the Raiders new GM is smarter than that.

Me3 is as cringe as my former nicknames for Geno. I can't see Pete wanting to go down that road at all though. Also, way past his prime.

It's still entertaining to see people lose their minds over the guy 3 plus years later though. Solid.
