If you are Schneider, are you paying a guard that much (cause JS hasn’t never done so) or would pay them, and move them to tackle??
Which is the more likely scenario for JS?
I can’t honestly see Schneider paying a guard that much, and if he does, he might tell the coaches to move them to tackle.
And I can’t see Schneider paying a guard…
He has said guards are overpaid already…
Damn, people REALLY read a lot into that quote. What they didn't read into the was the context though. It's not even an uncommon belief among people in his position.
If Schneider thinks Smith can put them team over the top, I don't see why he wouldn't make a run at him. He has shown a willingness to adapt his philosophies in the past, which is why our drafts have gotten so much better the past few years. There have been a number of times where he's never done something, until he does, like when he took a corner at #5 overall despite not previously taking one higher than 90th overall.
It's not going to matter in this case anyway, as I don't get why anyone thinks the Chiefs are going to let him hit the open market. They recently gave Creed Humphrey a huge extension and paid a bunch of money to get Joe Thuney there, so they clearly value those good interior linemen.
I suspect he'll try to sign someone though. He's facing no shortage of pressure for it.
