Perhaps that deserves a rethink but I have seen a pretty massive change in philosophy as soon as Carrol left when it comes to picking o lineman that can pass block.
Would you elaborate on this; which OL are you referring to? Sataoa Laumea, Michael Jerrell, and Christian Haynes all struggled mightily last season in pass protection. Sundell was ok, but only in a tiny sample size (16 true pass set snaps).

A long list of names, see, we did invest our draft capital in interior linemen. We did sign enough guys, just that none of them were starter calibre

I couldn't emphasize enough that we need better scouts.

I have an idea - how about getting a center to play center?

I couldn't agree more. At this point the O-line has been heavily invested in through the draft, they really need better scouts that can hammer a better win percentage through the draft. That's why I advocate for poaching scouts from Lions, Eagles, Colts, etc and paying them substantially more than what they're making now. They need better scouts asap.

Something must be up with practice concerning Haynes. in games Haynes looked much better than Laumea and yet they never really gave Haynes a chance. Game after game they rolled the traffic cone of a pass protector in Laumea

I like this move. Haynes is 6’2”. He’s a little small for a guard. He’d be a good center with a mobile qb like Russ. Russ could see. That’s why Pete liked Joey Hunt so much. Too bad we don’t have a mobile qb.
Mobile QB, without one you need a cannon for an arm, and nerves of steel. Joe Burrow, or Matt Stafford type. Geno is holding a spot on the club, that needs to be filled by a young and exciting player.

Coaches like and dislike certain players and obviously they have that prerogative. However, it's clear that our offensive coaching staff last season didn't like either Haynes or Olu and we'll likely never get the full story why. As a first approximation it's usually the players that are the problem, but how our new offensive coaching staff feels about them will be interesting.

Haynes is slow, he does need to slim down a bit but I'm not sure that will help him he lacks lateral agility and is caught flat footed that is visibly noticed when pulling. Laumea is quicker on his feet.

Besides Haynes those are all late round picks. When JS could pick from what he wanted he chose Charles Cross. A light on his feet tackle who was more athletic than physical. He was good at pass blocking in college and needed to add strength to become an effective run blocker. This is a vastly different type of prospect then what they had taken when Pete was head coach.
Faulting JS for 6th round picks struggling in pass pro is ridiculous.
Abraham Lucas was a third round pick and was also a very good pass blocking tackle in college. Both were solid picks. As was Damien Lewis another third round pick.
Claiming JS cant pick O lineman is simply not true. You can fault him for not wanting to pay Damien Lewis serious cash which left us hurting at guard this year but it wasn't because he can't draft lineman.

You do know that Pete was still here when we drafted Charles Cross? The guys that I listed are the ones we drafted last off-season without Pete in the building.

I hope you're kidding with that meme. Unless you agree with hiring Bubba's Redneck Garage when you need a Lambo mechanic. Being a guard and being a center are different specialties of the same overall job, just like fixing jacked-up pickups and fixing Lambos are different specialties of the same job.
Oh yeah, I was definitely kidding with that meme. Still pisses me off how they failed to use Pocic at center until his last year (which he played Center in college), then he suddenly played like a top 10 center until his injury on the Browns the following year.
