Murphy has been good to great as a rookie man. You have got to get off this hope stuff off your chest, I understand lol. Let's hope we win our last game this Sunday and that we make the changes we need to make in the offseason. Cheers and hopefully you have a happy New Year!

He's a nice player. Adds depth to the line, another tool for the toolbox etc. But I don't think he's destined to be a game wrecking star like people on here were saying.

Actually, most people weren't saying that.

His numbers at Texas bear out what we are seeing now. And most of us were not expecting big sack or TFL numbers.

That is not my recollection at all. I'll have to pull up some of those old draft and offseason threads about him when I have some time. I recall a lot of bragging about how we got one over on the Rams, who thought he could be their next Aaron Donald.

Oh I know it was said
But it was also shot down quickly by anyone (quite a few of us) who:

A. Saw him play
B. Had done any ounce of research into what kind of player he was

Murphy's snap counts always intrigued me. He is taking less snaps than old fart Reed who is nearing retirement age. Big cat took an extra 10-15 snaps than Murphy.

He needs to step it up next season. Don’t spend a first round pick on a backup quality player.

Put it this way, Gervon Dexter (Bears) is playing better than Murphy. He is a starter, not rotational level guy. He was drafted second round.

Gervon played an extra 120 snaps than our Murphy, ummm, got to wonder what's preventing our genius coach from keeping Murphy's snap counts so low.

More fullback snaps in 2025 that way.

PFF's opinion of Murphy is about as (in)valuable as Murphy's opinion of PFF...neither one matters

Opinion:

The gross misuse and abuse of statistics have long since reach epidemic levels globally in virtually all fields. It plagues global narratives.

Murphy plays for the Seahawks. Not for PFF or any other entertainment site.

That site will have no bearing on Byron Murphy's evolving development.

Watch the film. That's not a construct. It's a real recording. Watch it frame by frame and catch all the details. There are enlightening details about line play that are often missed at full speed by eyes glued to the football.

With Murphy, the best is yet to come.
Totally agree. Murphy's performance needs to be judged as a function of his role of the d-line and not personal stats like sacks.

Murphy missed some games with hamstring injury. Dexter was injured, too, but I think it was less time. Bears have less depth at the position, especially after Billings went down for the count.
