Outside of some nice stiff arms when he's in the open field (which is rare), I'm not really sure he's offering anything. Thoughts, comments, suggestions?

A terrible draft choice at the time getting worse and worse.

I don't even particularly dislike Charbs, but it's just another "should have picked OL depth here" instead of a replacement level running back in the 2nd round.

His biggest issue is the offensive line. Walker is consistently creating something out of nothing. Charbs is not that guy. When he has holes, he looks explosive, but when he doesn't, he looks lost.

That said, I mostly agree with Sonic. I don't think he's replacement level, but the value really wasn't there. We had much bigger needs than a backup RB on team that can't run block.

When drafting a RB high it is always a luxury pick but at the same time it depends on the scheme. So the value varies depending on what scheme you are running as an offensive coordinator. So right now based on the current offensive scheme Charbs is devalued but that could change based on what Grubb wants to do.

If Charbs was playing for Seattle back when they had Schottenheimer/Solari, he would've definitely had more value.

Charbs reminds me of Dan Doornink. A fairly solid backup who gives you a nice play now and then.

He looked fine against the Dolphins when he was the starter, they have the #12 rush defense. He probably needs more touches to get into a rhythm behind an Oline that can't run block.

Slow feet. Slow to transfer power. He has power once he up to speed, but that rarely happens. I’m not saying he’s a bust, but given where this team is right now, he’s a bit of a square peg trying to fit a round hole.

Meh. He doesn’t do anything for me personally. He’s not explosive. Maybe not a bad blocker, and he is a good stiff armer in the open but he lacks the ability to generate something when little is there where as K9 excels at that. Maybe I am being too hard on the guy but I just don’t see that explosive, killer instinct I would like to see out of him.

Sure, blame the OL, I get that, but even with a crappy OL you can tell if a running back has that dog in him.

K9 has that dog in him.

You need a workable scheme on the ground before you can say what he is or he isnt. Its the rare NFL back that can make something out of nothing. Our run game provides little in the way of strategic advantage to our RBs. Walker can find yards regardless. Charbs can't.

The fact that when he has a little room he can be effective, to me, says that he's a good bit better than he has shown.

In all honesty our running game as a whole is struggling not just Charb.

He fights hard, and I admire that at times, he appears to be the only player out there who cares, but I haven't seen anything from him resembling flashes of second-round talent. He's only 23 and I doubt we'd get anything better than a fifth-round pick if we traded him.

Looks especially egregious considering we passed on O'Cyrus Torrence when the league gifted us the chance to take him in the late second round. That's not hindsight either, as he was my #1 pre-draft target for pick #20 (39 picks earlier than he actually went), when I assumed JSN would be long gone. Torrence was a beast at UF, who people unfairly assumed couldn't pass block because of his size.

Well maybe if the line can open up a hole, you say? Well then draft Torrence in the 2nd and not Bradford in the 4th round. That would have done more for the running game than a 4th-5th round value RB would.

I'm still a believer in Bradford, who I think has shown good improvement throughout the season. I think we could have drafted both Torrence and Bradford.

To be fair, the 2023 RB class is looking pretty awful after the two first-rounders (Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs), but among guys taken after Charbs, you had Tayjae Spears and De'Von Achane in the third, Chase Brown in the fifth, and Keaton Mitchell was undrafted. There were a few decent FA options that signed cheap too. Maybe Charbs made sense for what we needed, but I think we could have found someone comparable for better value. In John and Pete's defense though, it wasn't the worst RB value pick they've made at a time we already had a fine starter.

Ivan the terrible ruined him. Too slow now. He is on the team for a power back but continues to fail to get one yard when we need it. Blame the strength coach.
