If any team was willing to take on his contract the Seahawks would have been willing to swap future 7th round picks to trade him rather than cut him. That it didn't happen is a clear indicator that no team will claim him. As a vested veteran his salary was guaranteed for the season. Cutting him doesn't save any money. The money paid to his replacement increases the cost. If a cheap replacement improves the team then so be it.This is a healthy perspective to have. The move catches me totally off guard though. Dodson has been the top 1/2 in tackles in most games and I thought he was playing really well all things considered. If it's to make room for Jobe (and I agree we need to make room for Jobe...dude balls out), then why a starter? That being said, I don't know exactly what MM is looking for in our ILB's and he knows where/how those guys need to play. As with any player on the team...if we can improve by releasing someone that has some level of fan support, than so be it.
I do like the leadership and command message these recent moves have sent. Really curious who will step in and start next game at weakside.
I doubt Dodson makes it through wavers...so good luck to him except against us.
