He's garbage. Yeah I'm sure everyone will want to give him more time, but it won't be enough. Coaches in this league have two years to show success or be fired. MM is headed fast towards getting fired. I know I've lost faith already.

The real winner in this Pete vs. Macdonald debate is Ken Norton Jr. With Norton, we had three top-15 scoring defenses in four seasons. We haven't had a top-25 scoring defense since he left.

Ah, the good old days! When we had the luxury of complaining about a defense that was only ranked 12th best in the league. In 2021, when Ken Norton had the 12th best defense, he got fired.

Interesting side note: I had forgotten the drama over the initial Ken Norton hiring in 2018. Norton was first hired by Kyle Shanahan to be assistant head coach/linebackers coach. Pete could not let that stand and talked Ken into resigning one week later, then hired him as defensive coordinator for the Seahawks.

I think the best year we were near bottom though and the year before in the 16-20 range? I could be way off as this is just memory. I would love to be 12th at this point though lol

This is why it’s unfair to say Macdonald has to win 10 games or it was a massive mistake. Pete and John had some horrible construction with contracts and it’s coming to a head now. You’re being disingenuous if you don’t include this in your assessment and of Macdonald. I think the people saying this know it but won’t admit it.
