Pre excuses. Next man up . 49ers are down lots of players on offense and defense too
this bay area numbnut is always here after the hawks lose but was nowhere to be seen when his broken team was getting punked, just wait, he wont have much to say, I mean he doesn't now but he is, which is about par for the san bernadino clemente andreas "fans" who generally lose to the fistfights in that occur in all of their games, you might not even make the playoffs dilbert

The answer is yes.

Even an injured DL does not excuse the performance of Seahawk secondary tonight. One of the all time lowlights of any Seahawk secondary in any era - and this pathetic excuse for a performance should be pinned on the secondary. Reminded that the secondary was one of the healthier parts of this defense. Not like it mattered. Woolen sucked. Riq sucked. Key starters we normally could rely on sucked. Sure Love got injured late, but that hardly excuses the whole.

This defense rightfully drops in every ranking after this showing. It looks like the #s were more the weak opponents than because of great defense and gifted defensive players.

“Blue Mirage?”

Apparently you aren’t watching that closely. This D still isn’t great and has been both passed on and run on to some degree at times this season. however at times it is strong against the run and very strong against the pass and this a whole lot better than it’s been in the last few years under consecutive duds as the DC and a head coach that was past his expiration date. That said the trajectory on the D is solid and they are far better than they’ve been in years that’s not a mirage.

Please note that sadly this game the team won be playing three top DLineman in this game tonight, however, somehow that will be overcome by a defensive coaching staff that can adjust on the flywhich was a skill lost upon the previous two DC’s with their moribund scheme. I predict a game where Goff will be moved out of the pocket a lot and one where the D takes away their running attack enough that it will be close. The solid play I’ve seen from the D to now is not a mirage.

Your opinion is unpopular, but it seems fair. Given our easy schedule and injuries, it's hard to say how good the defense is. The jury is still out on them.

I'm slightly more optimistic than you. But, at the end of the day, Jared Goff just had one of the best games in NFL history. The Lions had an EPA/play of .485, which is absolutely absurd. No other team comes close to that this season. Attributing that all to injuries feels too optimistic, but we'll see what happens going forward.

I don't know how much value I'd put in the opinion of someone who thinks Woolen and Riq are different players :D.

This forum is something else. Why is everybody tripping out on this game? We had 6 starters on D out. Detroit didn't do shit because we did it right back to them on their so called good defense. We racked up over 500 yards ob that so called elite D. The difference, we did it to their starters. We had more total yards than them, more rushing yards, better TOP. They only had 300 something total yards. The lions didn't expose shit. The only thing the lions proved is that they can score points on a bunch of back-ups.

Even with the starters back, last night proved this defense is bottom 15, most likely bottom 20 or less. You don't go to playoffs with such teams, and if by some miracle you do, you don't win any games.

Last night proved playoff dreams for this team are just folly.

Yes, the seahawks backups are probably bottom 20.

I don't think this is the #1 defense in the league, but I do think once they get healthy, they will be a great complement to what is shaping up to be an excellent offense.

Also just want to add that they still haven't played a game this year with their top pass rusher.

I get it that the defense didn't have many top players due to injuries but the rest of the defense who were healthy didn't show up for this one. I saw a lot of shades of last season's Clint Hurtt defense rearing its ugly head - missed tackles, etc.

I think losing 6-7 starters on D before the game is a loss for ANY team in the NFL.
You cannot tell me the Lions win if we even had just 3 of the starters for the game.

I'd argue if you had either Williams or Murphy and Mafe, just two players, we win that game.

I took it as a matter of which alter-ego showed up on that play, Woolen or Riq. Kind of a Jekyll-Hyde thing. Also, Goff knows who Woolen is, since (Tariq) Woolen pick-sixed him with his remarkable speed on a well-thrown ball in a recent Seahawks-Lions game.

Gee, I'd really like to have had ALL of them. But I agree Goff doesn't go 18 for 18 with pressure up the middle from Murphy or Williams and Mafe chasing him. Not to mention better run game D.

Well, after meeting the Lions and giving up 42 points and an 18-for-18 historic passing night for Jared Goff, we probably don't have to worry about a NFL #1 Defense ranking for the Hawks D for a while.

If you note the timing of the post , it was before the game. Everyone could see the defense was bolstered by the teams they have faced. I posted it before they lost, which was prediictable

Excuses.

I can tell you they would have still likely won because they have a track record of a hairs breadth of being in the Superbowl last year while the Seahawks have a track record of the 30th ranked defense.

Do I think the Seahawks will have the 30th ranked D. No! Do I think they will have a top 5 D. No! It will be somehwere in between
