Last home stand...

Fri: JP Sears LHP (11-12, 4.43 ERA, 133 SO) vs TBD

Sat: Joey Estes RHP (7-9, 4.99 ERA, 90 SO) vs TBD

Sun: Mitch Spence RHP (8-9, 4.35 ERA, 121 SO) vs TBD

Apparently deciding how to fit Castillo in for one last game while holding out hope we can survive in the last WC spot.

Since Covid and our farm system yielding some talent...

2021---90-72 eliminated from playoffs
2022---90-72 make playoffs as wildcard team and win a series (on the upswing)
2023---88-74 eliminated from playoffs
2024---85-77 if we sweep the A's, worse if not, and eliminated from playoffs

No commitment to winning on the part of this franchise. It looks like the myth of Sisyphus, coming up from the bottom after rebuilding, pushing the rock up the hill, and just when they near the top, they start rolling back down again.

Call ups for 3 games? Too late. Whatever. I guess call up Montes. Why not

Haniger Garver Urias all with a hit. We're back bros!

If I was Woo I would’ve been in Cabo already, why waste innings. And if I was any of the other 3 my agent would be telling the M’s….TRADE ME

After the 2022 season was the golden opportunity to go "all in". That was a phenomenal free agent class and the M's had a ton of momentum and buzz from the playoff run. All they needed to do was sign a good 2B and a good DH (to go along with the addition of Teo) and they easily could've been legitimate WS contenders for a few seasons at least. But instead, they traded for an aging, declining Kolten Wong to play 2B, who turned out to be a shell of the good player he used to be, and literally went dumpster diving for a DH and very predictably ended up with the worst production from the DH spot in all of MLB.

Then they made it even worse last off season by getting rid of Teo, Geno, and Kelenic, and adding Garver, Polanco, Haniger, and Urias.

I've never seen a franchise ( in any sport) so intentionally flush a potential championship window down the toilet like the Mariners have the past 2 off seasons. They have proven beyond any doubt that they absolutely do not care about winning a WS. They couldn't make it any more obvious even if they hung a banner over T-Mobile park that said "We Don't Care About Winning".

Yep.

After Russell’s rookie year where we lost to Atlanta in the playoffs, we added Avril, Bennett and Harvin.

The Mariners basically did the exact opposite. They aren’t serious about winning a World Series.

Bottom five sports franchise and easily the worst in MLB. Only hope is one day Stanton sells the team.

Maybe you guys could start your own threads for your whine-a-thon and leave the game/series threads for those who are still watching.

Ironically Ms have had one of the better offenses in the league in September. There's hope. They have to keep Edgar around somehow the guy is just pure high hitting IQ.

Also ironically, that's probably not a good thing because it gives Dipoto an excuse to roll it back with these same players next year. "See? This is what these guys are capable of. We don't need better players, these guys are good enough".

Sorry Sutz. I'm just responding to other posts. 🤷‍♂️

I still think half of the line up needs to be replaced. As crazy as it sounds though if this September offense played like this all year (even most of the year) they have 100 wins.

Lol, no. No way this team was ever getting to 100 wins.

First of all, Robles wasn't even on the team the first 2+ months of the season, and didn't start getting regular playing time until July.

Second, Arozarena and Turner weren't here until basically August, and while they haven't lit the world on fire or anything, they've been fairly significant to the improvement of the offense lately.

Third, there are at least half a dozen teams that are much, much better than the M's, even with the offense playing better in September, and none of those teams are winning 100 games.

I think you might also be forgetting that the bullpen was actually pretty bad for a large portion of the season, and even the starting rotation wasn't great on the road for most of the year.

Point was if the stats throughout the season were September numbers, this team has 100 wins. I realize they didn't have Randy, Robles and Turner for most of the season.

Still no. They're 14-10 in September. That's a .583 winning percentage. 95-67 would be a slightly higher winning %, but close enough. Point being, even if the offense had played this well all season, they're still not a 100 win team. 95/96 wins? Yeah, maybe. 100 wins? Nope.

Lol…WOW, no critical thinking allowed huh? Yes Sir!
That's what you said, not me. I was complaining about posters going off topic and clogging up the game threads with meta shit. You do you.

You're looking at just record there's more to it than that. If you take the team offensive numbers for September (.265 AVG, .350 OBP, .777 OPS, etc) and apply that to every month of the season they probably do have 100 wins....those numbers are top of the league tier.
