Earl Thomas and the Hall of Fame? As a Seahawk? This is weirder than the Kenny Easley situation from years ago.

ET lost me at:Earl Thomas went all-Russell Wilson before Russ did. He rebelled against Pete, claimed he was worth more than the Seahawks were willing to pay, and then later learned the hard way that other coaches were a lot less tolerant than Pete.
Plus Earl went off the deep end in his personal life. At least Russ hasn't been held at gunpoint by his wife while with another woman yet.
Weird how Kam always escapes criticism for his holdouts, but other players are selfish for trying to maximize their worth.Earl Thomas went all-Russell Wilson before Russ did. I don't hold it against any player for trying to get his money. But Earl went pretty far with his public criticism of the Seahawks regime, and made it so it was impossible for the Seahawks to keep him.Weird how Kam always escapes criticism for his holdouts, but other players are selfish for trying to maximize their worth.
I don't see what you're seeing.Any Seahawk players that have found enough external support to make the nomination list DESERVE our full-throated support to cross the finish line. Any and all of them. Part of the reason why national punditry virtually ignores the Seahawks is because of the perceived, dismal self-loathing by a vocal minority of fans. It truly is pathetic. It is sickening and a betrayal to those players that gave our fan base the prime years of their career. Especially because it damages the franchise legacy as much as the player legacy. You might hate the player, but why do you hate the franchise? Because it seems apparent that you hate the franchise as well. This is not the definition of "fan", it is the definition of troll.
These are players that have made enough impact to influence the nomination process, and are then stabbed in the back by self-important, self-centered "fans". We make it easy for national punditry to ignore us. We give them a very plausible excuse. If we don't like building our team legacy, then why should they? There is a long list of other players and fan bases that will greatly appreciate our collective neglect of the team legacy building process. Getting their players in at the expense of ours. We apparently work very hard to make the Seahawks an irrelevant franchise. Perhaps the next owner will notice this, and that will weigh in on a decision to move the team to an area that actually wants to build franchise legacy. After all, the owner lives vicariously through the team legacy that they have built. Why would they feel any obligation to a fan base that contradicts it? A fan base that searches for reasons to marginalize it.
There are no distinct criteria for player admission once nominated. There are no disqualifiers once nominated. Those thresholds were crossed once the nomination was concluded. The preliminary filtering has already occurred. Now, there is only perceived support that is very influential for final inclusion, and after all, this is only a beauty contest. Nothing more. It is not just alright, but normal to expect that Seahawk fans support every Seahawk nominee to get in. In fact, the alternative is sickening betrayal. You can self-loath to your heart's desire, but please don't bring it here. Please don't throw a wet blanket over the fine careers of externally nominated former players that wore the Seahawk blue. At that point, they have checked every box for inclusion only to find that some self-important "fans" have rationalized and influenced the final box not to be checked.
Kam rarely made his feelings public. He handled business as expected, so there wasn't much to complain about, even if you thought he was selfish. That's the biggest issue for guys like ET or Sherm. They'd be just as revered if they handled off-field drama like Kam. The only exception is Marshawn, who, by all accounts, was an absolute nightmare to manage and whom fans almost universally side with because he's so loveable.Weird how Kam always escapes criticism for his holdouts, but other players are selfish for trying to maximize their worth.
His resume should still get him in. Look at all the QB’s and he still deserves itOn an unrelated note, it's crazy how quickly Russell Wilson crashed and burned any HOF chances once he left the seahawks. I think he was borderline with his Seattle career, passer rating stats, a ring etc and basically changed the trajectory for smaller QB's to get drafted. His Broncos career absolutely nuked that
There's a flip side to this. If every player who gets nominated gets 100% full-throated backing from the fans, then we'll be ignored even more. At that point we're just a bunch of homers, a loud buzzing sound to be disregarded in the national conversation. If Jim Zorn got nominated, I'd be thrilled, but for me to expect him to get in when there are so many other more worthy candidates at his position would be nuts. Regardless of how much he means to the franchise and me as a fan.Any Seahawk players that have found enough external support to make the nomination list DESERVE our full-throated support to cross the finish line.
