Yikes. Sam Howell just got sacked again. This guy takes way too many sacks. And to boot, this is a backup not a starter for this team currently. However, MacDonald must have some info about him since Baltimore and DC are in close proximity to each other.
Sacks happen when you have a suspect o line, the OC calls a lot of 5&7 step drops and only calls a run play to give the WRs a break

economics are fantastic on this trade.

We are far from finished in free agency and spending so little cap space on a back up QB helps move along in FA

You should completely set most of your roster before the draft, that way come draft day, you pick best available player instead of panicking because you have a hole to fill urgently

Howell is further along at this stage than Hasselbeck was when we traded for him. But is Grubb as good a QB coach as Holmgren?

Whichever draft chart you are looking at for the pics alone it’s equivalent to around the 100th pic of the draft which is an early fourth rounder. What I and others originally failed to realize is you need to also factor in the player in Sam Howell, and what his worth is. I would say after all is said and done it’s probably around a fifth round pick in what they gave up for him which is fair, especially given his favorable contract.

I like it ! Mac and John playing small ball with this move. Shows me there working real hard to make us better.

Cheers

Well Damn we could have had Me3 after all, maybe Fields or Lock, all more expensive and not as good as Howell in my opinion.

There are multiple trade value charts out there... so there's nothing sacred about one over another.

I calculated a mid-7th round pick as the cost of trading for Howell. Others, using a different chart, calculated a high 4th round pick.

So, the cost is likely somewhere in between.

Didn't realize so many folks on here watch and are fans of the Commanders.

How gross.

Well I'm sure he will like the Uniform color change, Ketchup and Mustard to Blue and Green.

Great trade. Now hope we don’t waste a pick on a qb in the draft and can trade down and address other areas

Here are Geno's and Howell's stats from last year's game against WAS.

Geno, 31/47, 369 yd., 2 TDs, 103.9 QB rating.

Howell, 29/44, 312 yd., 3 TDs, 109.3 QB rating.

Pretty similar. Great trade considering everything.
