Agreed. All Kaepernick wants is attention. He doesn't care about football so why should football care about him. If he truly cared about playing football he would be signing up for XFL or USFL. There are more options to play than there were when he left the NFL.

I don’t get how he thinks things would be different now than in early 2017 regarding the anthem. The nfl literally has no rule about if one stands or kneels any more.
It’s no longer a cultural flashpoint the way it was. If we are to be fair, that did have an impact but so did his demands to start.

Kaepernick never actually cared about any of the things he says he cares about. It was all a means to an end, and that end was fame & notoriety. If he'd wanted to, he could have gone to any city center in the country and had a conversation with any police chief anywhere about policies & race & use of force. He could have actually done something constructive. Instead, he did the whole kneeling anthem thing. He was far more concerned about giving the middle finger to the rest of the country than he was about actually accomplishing anything related to what he said he cared about.

I’m Sure that at the time he thought his protest wouldn’t impact his signing possibilities, and perhaps they wouldn’t have if it hadn’t been that moment in time. Goodell and every owner were Scared individually of the player as I imagine anyone would be With a world leader singling them out.
Not that it requires collusion, but individually many teams would distance instinctively. In fact, I read that the Seahawks themselves Had asked him to commit to not kneeling over the phone, and when he didn’t there was no visit.
Not to say that his preference to be a starter wasn’t an issue. Or that not threatening Russ with anything near a qb competition wasn’t an issue.
Most teams decided on more than this issue, but it’s unrealistic to say it didn’t play a part.
Another part, however, is that gms were probably leery of how far Colin would take it. Would he demand the use of BLM towels instead of the Gatorade ones given Gatorade is probably controlled by white people? Would he put out a podcast calling them out in season? Because as others have pointed out, it proved personally profitable.

Becoming a member of an NFL team shouldn't mean losing your political voice. But it's unreasonable for a player to engage in activities that will alienate half of a team's fan base, on the teams time and dime.
If Kaep really wanted to be an NFL quarterback, he shouldn't have voided his contract with the Digits.

Initially the reason CK was protesting was due to being benched in favor of Blaine Gabbert and at the time he had a political activist girl friend who I am sure was in his ear telling him “ you can turn this into a civil rights issue” and the rest is history. The reason he even had an NFL career was Jim Harbaugh who knew how to use his talents correctly in the playoff game vs the Packers he was instructed that if it was a pass play and the Packers were in man coverage just run with the ball

Right, because getting physically tested in the quest to potentially make millions of dollars is exactly the same as being forced into physical labor for no pay, with no rights, at all. Pretty much this. I was watching that game and he was pissed. When he knelt, I thought: "What a little baby.".
But then he had to cover his butt, so changed the reasoning.
I don't know, but I think his behavior stems from his biological mom not keeping him. When she tried to contact him, he said "No!"
IIRC, She was a track athlete.
