Jackson probably is an interesting situation where on one hand it seems Baltimore organization rubbed him the wrong way in the 2021 season and then negotiations went south in the 2022 off season. That probably explains why Jackson chose to sit out a playoff game as he probably checked out way before the 2022 season and wanted out.

But on the other hand he could have increased his value by playing in the playoff game and winning.

Ravens have been trying to sign Lamar for the past 2 years but Lamar kept kicking the can down the road claiming he is in no rush this was pissing off Biscotti who wanted to get a deal done. I am assuming Lamar wanted the BIG payday and now is coming to bite him in the ass. It’s after the fact but if I was Lamar when Josh Allen got his contract I would have got a competent agent and tell him I want a similar contract Lamar would have gotten it. I consider Lamar and Allen in the same tier both got drafted in the same year and both successful

That’s been part of what he has been offered the general consensus is 5 yrs $250 million $180-200 million total guaranteed with $133 million due at signing. Lamar claims it’s a 3 yr $133 million fully guaranteed. IMO it’s all semantics I have stopped believing in anything he says anymore

After Watson renegotiated ( moved some guaranteed money to a signing bonus) it’s a clause in the contract the Browns can do it anytime they want. Watson cap hit for the next 3 years is $64 million a year for the next 3 years

I think Lamar's biggest hurdle is the fact that he is a run first QB that has an injury history. This type of QB doesn't decline slowly over time. They go over a cliff.

PLUS, they would have to change most of the personnel on their team to fit a running QB. That would waste tens of millions of dollars having to cut all of those players they've already paid.

There's no collusion, a team would be st00pid to trade for Lamar. I'm sure there's plenty of teams that believe he chose to sit out a playoff game. They won't touch him. He's shown zero common sense, especially with his tweets. I think he's backed himself in to a corner, and he and his mom are too stubborn to admit the error in their ways.

Also, there's a cap...what about the other 52 players on the team? They're supposed to take a pay cut? Lamar is not Rodgers or Mahomes. He can't carry a team by himself. Sure he won an MVP. But an MVP only means that they were an exciting player for one season. Zero guarantee of continued success. Win multiple, then come back and talk.

The foolish greed of Jackson in not having an agent is biting him in the rear. Teams have and will have concerns that hold up any desire to give him a totally guaranteed deal with his injury history, despite his unquestioned talent. It is his stubbornness in wanting a totally guaranteed contract which is holding things up. In a sense Cleveland’s idiocy in giving their sexual predator Watson that ridiculous guaranteed deal that is the basis for his inability to move forward.

I predict he plays this year and maybe next on the guaranteed contracts provided by the franchise tags. He will then have his guaranteed money, but it will a lot less than he could get if he was able to sit down and negotiate a fair contract. Objectively he has already lost money he could have already had and a year going forward to be able have another kick at the money machine.

He needs to find an agent he can trust and listen to, it that could/would ease his problems.

Good point about changing personnel/scheme to fit Lamar. This was brought up by PacMan Jones on The PMS a day or two ago. I think Harbaugh has done a great job building his offense around Lamar. If Lamar leaves, then what will the new team do?

Has any player without an agent negotiated a great deal for themselves? I think a few did with their 3rd or 4th contract but never on this magnitude. Even with Sherman and Wagners contracts, they sounded a lot but were more incentive driven than anything and I still think could probably have got better contracts with an agent. I get why they did it, to remove their agents cut and by that point they mostly knew how the business worked. Pretty sure Russell Okung even asked for his to be in bitcoin at the Chargers which, I dunno, maybe an agent would have asked for a mix of bitcoin and currency?
