What? This is surprising. Love is a free safety. Are they going to go with three safeties, which a lot of teams are playing these days? Or are they not going to re-sign Ryan Neal? Or trade Diggs?

For $6 million, I wish they'd signed Cole Holcomb, the middle linebacker the Steelers signed away from the Commanders for $6 million a year.

Love can play all over the back end, really. He's a plus talent with versatility. They were scraping the absolute bottom of the barrel last year.

You can play him as a nickel. You can play him at strong safety. You can plug him in for Diggs should Diggs get hurt and not be totally ruined. Lots of value here.

I think it’s crazy how much Seattle has invested at safety comparable to what Washington has at DL. I would much rather invest big money on DL.

You only have to invest money if you don't have players on "rookie contracts". The first 4 years of rookie deals are pretty much steals and if we are planning to bolster the DLine in the draft, there's no need to spend huge money here. They have picked up a few really good linemen already without overpaying. If they supplement the rest with this draft, we can have a really good line without breaking the bank. Just one possible scenario. It's still too early to know what's going to happen for certain

Very cool hearing about his versatility. Now to see if this has anything to do with somehow moving on from Adams or Neal.

we really could have used him last year while diggs was missing tackles, adams was injured, bryant was getting burned and jones flat-out sucked.

great pickup, he gives us instant versatility and moves us forward in the right direction. now i wouldn't even be surprised if adams gets cut before the season. according to fann:

"Releasing Adams after June 1 would save Seattle $8.4 million in cap space, per Over the Cap."
