Here is an interesting analysis of Macdonald's Cover-6 defense, and how the Seahawks utilized it more after Julian Love returned from his injury:

Althought the Seahawks used the split safety defense more than other teams, apparently, it is being used more and more throughout the NFL. It didn't start with Macdonald, but with Steve Spagnuola, the defensive coordinator of the Chiefs in 2019. It has been used by the winning team in the last four Super Bowls.

There was chatter before the SB that Drake Maye had faced just this kind of coverage a lot in the final six or so games of the season, and it coincided with a big drop in his production.
