Curious what has changed for you since then? Seems a lot of people are warming up to him now. Was it just the combine?
Prior to the last few weeks, I had only seen a few highlights from AR.
Then came the comments from JS about quarterbacks and the Seahawks never drafting that high during his tenure.
Assuming Young and Stroud would be off the board, I went back and watched a few Florida games in their entirety.
Then of course, AR crushed the combine. We interviewed him…etc.
Although not full developed (mechanics wise), He comes off as the QB with the highest ceiling and gives off vibes that JS and PC seem to like. We’ve drafted guys before that we’re seemingly selected too early or guys that had potential but could’ve easily been labeled as “projects”.
Defense is our #1 need of course. But, there are also a lot of Edges and DTs that are damn near equal performance wise.
I could see JS and PC addressing those needs further down into the draft.
If they draft like they did last year, we’ll be in a good place regardless. And…I’m not going to be shocked or disappointed if they don’t draft AR.
PC and JS have regained my trust draft wise from our last crop of rookies.
But….I do see them liking a 6’4”, 230+ lb QB that runs a 4.4 and has a 40+ inch vertical…let alone a cannon of an arm. I can see them looking at his accuracy issues as something their staff can remedy. Like taking a former WR at CB. Like taking an UDFA at WR and making him a star.
If Anderson, Carter are there and we snatch one, great. But…I won’t be shocked if they decide to grab a QB to develop him along with the rest of the youngsters we currently have and will find in this draft.
And since QB was mentioned by both, I’m thinking PC and JS think AR has the most potential…not year 1….but soon thereafter.
