Packers are trying to get Rodgers to retire to get out of paying him all that money. He has responded in the expected way, being a whiner. Why would anyone think that there will be a team willing to help them out of their situation? Rodgers does not move the needle much anymore. Truth is that the ridiculously overpriced QB's are losing in the league. Mahomes still hasn't hit the $40M+ cap hit, and it will be interesting next year when he does and the Chiefs need to make decisions and how it will affect their record.

I want Erin to suffer, suffer, and suffer some more, stay in Green Bay or maybe go to the Broncos as Wilsons back up and they can both suffer............. :)

A differnt angle to look at this.

In 2023 40-50 million for an elite QB is to be expected and Rodgers falls in that range.

If you woke up tommorow without knowing the price or what was given up to trade for Rodgers and he was now a Seahawk...would you be upset? Clearly no, right?

Geno is gone next year, some team is going to pay huge for him and the Seahawks won't.

Is Geno a one year wonder? We don't know and the Hawks won't pay to find out. However Rodgers is one of the best all time and that is worth a few bucks.

I don't care if the Seahawks get the 1st pick in next years draft and pick the best QB...there is no telling if he can make the transition to the NFL. However Rodgers is a proven commodity.

Rodgers is irritated after just about every play that goes south...shaking his head and upset with coaches. I think he is fed up and ready to go, maybe even with a restructured contract.

If Rodgers is done with the Packers after this season and the Packers can't use a guy that doesn't show up...its possible the Hawks could steal him with that late 1st round pick.
I would very definitely be quite upset. I don't think Rodgers is better for this team than Geno. Also, I think Rodgers belongs in the Hall of the Very Overrated - I know I'm in the minority on that. But we don't need individual stats - we need a player that lifts the offense. Geno is doing that. Rodgers doesn't.

I wouldn't trust Rodgers at this point in his career. Not because he doesn't have the potential to take over a game, but because his head is messed up. Football is a lunch-bucket sport, not a hippie sport, and his lady is an unmitigated hippie. I have no idea where AR's head is at, and I suspect, neither does he.

I don't find the idea objectionable at all. If GB wants to throw us a couple of early draft picks in a swap for Lock then we could eat Rodger's salary in 2023. All the bonus money would stick with the Packers and we could get out of the contract in 2024 with no problems. That probably sets us back a bit in 2023 but would be worth it in the long run.

This is a terrible take and I can't stand people trying to say what 'kind' of people are the right kind for football. Luke Willson here in Seattle would fit into the hippie category more than lunch bucket category.

Tom Brady is the GOAT and he ain't either of those groups.

Rodgers headspace issues is because he is a self involved jerk, not because his lady is a hippie or not.

I think he mixed up football with boxing.

I would be violently unhappy. Even without knowing the price, I would know the ballpark, and I don't want Rodgers anywhere near my team.

To twist the argument, just a little bit, I would ask, "At what price would you be ok with Rodgers joining the Hawks?"

I would be ok with him coming to compete for a spot, in exchange for a second rounder, or a conditional 1st, if we were only on the hook for his base salary, and his signing bonus, for the duration of the contract. The Packers would have to eat everything else.

That would look like
2023 - 14 million
2024 - 10.5 million
2025 - 25 million
2026 - 18 million

I'm sure it was a bit tongue-in-cheek. It's like at debate class. Pick a subject, pick a side, defend it and debate it.

Yes, I said debate class.

He would not work well with Pete. Rogers want autonomy and Pete has his system. Did we not get rid of a quarterback who wanted things his way already?
