While I honestly hate to speculate on relationship stuff (and, to be honest, hate to see any marriage fall apart), I will say this: If him coming back to play isn't part of the reason they are divorcing then he came back to play because his marriage was falling apart already.

His contract isn't all guaranteed money. He is only guaranteed $165M. It is the only intelligent part of that contract on the Broncos parts. They should have waited to see him play in "their system" before changing what they were on the hook for. Of course he was probably holding in to get the contract done because he knows his diminishing ability will mean less money later.

I suspected the same, his no activities during preseason could be part of the holding in? But really, if the Broncos didn't sign that contract, will they still sign it after this four game audition? Or, would Russ play if no contract extension?
