Who cares? Rob Stanton hasn't been relevant in years for anyone other than Eeyores who secretly want to see the team fail. All this talk about keeping Seattle grounded is completely bunk and frankly comes across as sour grapes. Let them take their victory mile, they earned it.

Nah. He doesn't get it. It's not about the LOB and their antics. It's about Russ being a phony and having his hatchet men (Team 3) do the dirty work while he pretends to be something he isn't. If he didn't want to be here, then he should have had the balls to say so. To everybody. The LOB smelled a phony way back then. It took most of the rest of us awhile to catch on. Some still haven't caught on.

I struggle to see how fan narratives and gamesmanship impacts future game preparation. I agree that one game tells us nothing about the Wilson/Carroll situation. But I also think that's a pointless debate because it has no bearing on the team's success. Instead, it's a fun narrative.

So Rob's point is that the team should care more about beating the Niners than celebrating a moral victory over Wilson. Alright. We have no evidence to support his fears other than their excitement after a win. So his message is intended to be a warning to optimistic fans, which is fine, I guess.

It's telling fans not to be fans. No one should be overly happy or celebrate too much because HE doesn't think the team will do well going forward. Regardless of whether not that is true, he doesn't get to dictate how other fans celebrate.

A lot of these types of "takes" are coming from fans who are overly down on Pete Carroll, or overly invested in Russell Wilson. They don't want to be proven wrong, so they are doubling down on their pessimistic view point and making sure everyone knows it. Sour grapes.

I'm not a Pete fan. Never have been. During this game, I think he went way too conservative in the second half. I also realize that we have a very young team and that the rookies are going to make mistakes. That being said, I never predicted that we were going to the Superbowl or even the playoffs. But if you can't understand what really happened during Russ' tenure here and why that made this one game so important to the team and former players, then I simply can't help you. So hell yeah, I am ecstatic that we got the "W" and if you're not, then it sucks to be you.

Carroll is a peaks and valleys coach. Even when we had the Legion of Boom we would struggle with the Titans.
Every year, he was good for one win against a team nobody thought we had a chance against, and one loss to a team we had no business losing to.

Probably for the same reason.

Tremendous motivator. He is incredible and getting people emotionally ginned up and in doing, getting them to produce above and beyond their normal range.

But

Highs come with lows. You cannot just hit crazy peaks without having letdowns, if you rely on teams being emotionally motivated/vested to win - then what happens when there is little reason for them to do so? You play detached and you lose to a bottom feeder team.

Now, we are a projected bottom feeder this year, so it will be harder for that to happen - but we probably have one of those losses coming out of nowhere and at least one win against an opponent nobody gives us a chance against. (I thought we would lose this one, but because of BS penalty in a close game. We managed to overcome that and there were not as many egregious penalties as I expected).

We probably end up a bit below or just at .500. But this was one of the games we expected to do well in and we won it.

Surprised to see you here. Over on the Broncos-fan board, you refer to the Broncos as "we." I thought you were finally "out of the closet" on that, but then you go and show up here. Of course, it's still to slurp on a certain ex-Seahawk, but I'm genuinely surprised to see you back here.

I heard this on my drive to work and I couldn't tell what rob was trying to get at. I think his point was that the team may have put too much attention and heart into Week 1 and won't be properly prepared for week 2 against the 9ers. And maybe a little anger towards Pete's treatment of Russ?

Ok, even if that's true, I'll take that trade off. You get a win at all cost even if it takes everything you have. Pete and Co. went at it the right way. 100% all out effort towards the next game ahead on the schedule which happened to be the Broncos week 1. So what if there was a lot of drama built around Seahawks vs the-ex. It's been fun. That doesn't stop them from planning ahead or putting 100% again the next week.

Rob has a point in that this is the classic emotional letdown situation for the Seahawks. And the 49ers will be inspired to not become 0-2, while getting to play their rival in front of a loud home crowd.

But....this is quietly a huge pressure game for the Niners, and especially Trey Lance. For a team built to win now, except at QB, they can't throw this season away just so Lance can get experience.

So they NEED to win. Or at least have Lance play well in a loss. If they lose because Trey sucks, that franchise has a crisis on their hands. If they turn to Jimmy G, Young Skywalker has his spirits crushed, and Shanny and Lynch look incompetent for spending franchise changing draft capital to take a guy who looked questionable in college.

Or do they keep playing the young guy and piss off the veterans if he keeps struggling? Risking team morale?

Hope you don't choke under the pressure, Niners. :)

I don't think Trey is ready AT ALL.

But

That is a stellar defense. Sure Chicago beat them, in a monsoon.

If that defense can keep their footing, they are much more dangerous.

And I don't expect Geno to go an entire half without missing a pass against them.

However, losing to the 49ers wouldn't be any kind of disaster. They were picked to potentially unseat the Rams (before people knew about the QB problem). That is a good team. Maybe a great team with a QB.

I'm actually in agreement with Rob on this one. Enjoy the moment, just don't get too cocky. Was a great win, but there are plenty of areas that need improvement.

Where does the team go from here after winning their Super Bowl? As Rob mentioned they are turning a victory lap into a victory mile.

They need Trey Lance to puke all over himself, even then it will still be a tough game to win.

Well maybe Fade.
But they had their QB essentially be perfect for a half.

Their rookie corners essentially prevented a HOF QB from throwing to his WRs for most of the game.

They forced 2 separate fumbles at the goal line.

And they won by 1 point.

It was almost as if they had to play balls out to barely beat a team that was not running on all cylinders since it did not bother to play most of its starters in the preseason. Denver looked like crap, and it wasn't all just incredible play by the Hawks. Part might have been travel, part rust, and maybe part getting used to the new systems. But with all that, we won by a single point - and everyone from Geno, to Penny, to our corners, to our OL had a pretty good game.
It worries me that firing on most cylinders we could barely beat a team that was looking pretty rough.

Which is why Fade posted it

Seeing fans cling to a narrative in spite of team success is an incredible level of sad
