This is why passing on picking any QB in this years draft aggravated me . Pick someone and see what he has. Why waste an entire year? I think he actually really believed Drew Lock was a viable prospect which just makes me really question his ability to lead this team to success at this point in his career.
This. Along with a good amount of experts on .net

Funny stuff.

Geno is Pete's Curtis Painter, circa 2011 Colts. A year earlier the Colts had a HOF QB and were a SB contender. A year later they drafted the best QB in college football and quickly started making the playoffs again. Painter was the in-between-guy. That's Geno.
Painter was never the plan though. He was the backup until Peyton got hurt. He was so bad they brought in an over-the-hill Kerry Collins later in the season. I think Dan "0-16" Orlovsky got a few starts too.

Why is Lock more interesting than Geno? Lock couldnt beat out Teddy Bridgewater. If he was FA would anyone really be begging for him?

DIFFERENT SYSTEMS, DIFFERENT COACHING PHILOSOPHIES, what's so hard to understand?
Drew Lock has some bad tendencies that he needs to get shed of, and thus far, he hasn't shown that he can.
The kid has all the physical tools, he's just in his own head, SCREWING HIMSELF up with some bad habits.
IF he can turn the corner, LEARN TO SELF ADJUST to Waldron's system, he could surpass, but he's shown that he's having a problem with trusting the change....That was Russell Wilsons hang-up too = MY WAY or NO WAY.

Still lost out to Teddy Bridgewater and now Geno Smith.

In a lofty place tanglin' with Satan over history.

Im starting to think a few of these jokers actually would. The meltdown over him not being good enough to supplant Geno Smith is fascinating. And extremely telling. Just look at the amount of concessions and "What If" scenarios some of these cats are conjuring up! 😂 I don't think I have ever seen anything like it.

it may take time, it took YEARS sitting on the bench holding a clipboard for Geno to change from a INT machine to a 5TD/1INT guy. Lock still may make it.

I'm not a fan of this at all. Geno has been weighed and measured, he's spent years playing in the NFL. Geno is a backup tier player. He has a place in the NFL in that capacity, but as a starter? We know what he can do.

I really think Pete needs to role with Lock. I do think that Geno won the competition fairly. Geno, clearly is the more refined of the two as a passer. Lock pre-determines where he's going to throw the ball and stares down his receivers. Lock also missed some really basic blitz recognition. Geno was put in the very same circumstance, identified the blitz and shifted the protection.

That being said, Lock has more physical skills than Geno and he's younger. He's going to lose you more games in the short term, but that it's worth it to see if you can get anything out of Lock.

I personally don't think Lock will ever be very good, but at least he's young and has elite physical traits. A team like the Seahawks is not going to be competitive and because they're not going to be competitive, they need to go with the young gun.
Great. So how are you gonna sell that to the rest of the locker room?

I was on board with Lock being the starter until last night.

You can't center your program around "It's all about the ball"! And then turn around and start Lock.

He had a few almost turnovers as well. He was so bad against Dallas's practice squad (Yes, against much lesser competition he'd face in the regular season) that Pete called the competition now, when it was supposed to go into September.

In the end (W's--L's) it doesn't matter much who starts this year, but I'd never put a turnover machine on the field no matter how talented they are.

A turnover a game is one thing, but Drew Lock is ready to turn it over on any given possession. He's learned nothing from his benching in Denver.

Geno's going to be anemic, the offense is going to be a punt fest, but at least he won't give the game away.

Geno averages a turnover every game.

I agree with you Fade, but I think Drew was either not 100% recovered from Covid or trying too hard last night, probably both. As for Geno, he was that turnover machine in his earlier days with the Jets, but somehow he is reinventing himself. He is trying real hard to be that game manager, someone who won't cost a game by taking risks.
His nose was running at his press conference, I'll guess tt's still running now, and maybe he wouldn't be fully recovered by 12 September anyway.
Also, he didn't throw any interceptions in Weeks 15, 16, 17, 18.
He had the ball ripped out on the read option run vs Bengals, and he was 'involved' in the fumble vs KC. Ingram was almost quick enough to take Lock's handoff(to Gordon).
I don't know if he had any near miss INTs in those 4 games.

Didn’t even need to draft a QB. Just sign Anthony Brown as a UDFA. Guy was 15-19for 256 yds and a TD today.

Basically any qb who looks like garbage under Mario, is probably really good but Cristobal is to stupid to use him right.

LOL Straight up. Spin basically just said:
"Ehhh...My wife birthed my average ass kids, would burn water, and still needs a coffee cup of lube when we get busy twice a month.

I really think I should "role" with Susy! Sure, she has 5 kids by 8 different guys, cooks me Kraft Mac n Cheese for dinner, watches Real Housewives of Kardashian & Tucker Carlson all day, uses the credit card at Dollar Tree, and can hardly spell, even with a mini quantum computer in her greasy hands.

That being said, she's still only 27 years old and the effects of her chronic tanning and smoking hasn't set in yet. Plus she's got great titties! I can MOLD her into an acceptable housewife!

Look, I honestly don't think Susy will ever amount to much. But a guy like me can't ask for much anyway. I'm gonna leave my high school sweetheart who's allergic to the sun with a bum knee and dentures for Susy! She's 6 years younger than wifey so she's gonna live 6 years longer!"

😁
Holy Hell where do they make these jokers!?
Somewhere in there is a point you are trying to make.

Hmmm. And I thought maybe the mold was not quite as set with Lock as with Geno, and some fans were hoping he'd show more upside. Silly me.

Geno was never the plan though. He was the backup until Russ got traded. Pete was afraid Geno would be so bad they brought in a terrible Drew Lock before the season. I think Jacob "0-17" Eason may get a few starts too.
