The spot created by waiving Levi Lewis is going to deep threat receiver Marquise Goodwin.

Goodwin, a track long jumper (and receiver, obviously) in college, ran a 4.27 at the 2013 NFL combine. His best season came with San Francisco in 2017, notching 962 yards and 2 TDs.

Competition for Freddie Swain, Dee Eskridge, Penny Hart, and Bo Melton as WR3.

I like it.

But, why ?... Its not like petes going to find a sure handed star at the WR position. I think time and money would be spent on other positions, like MLB.

Love to see a foot race of Goodwin, Tariq, and DK. Come to think of it, does anyone know how many sub 4.35 sec guys that we have on the team?

A good signing to push the younger players on the roster.

It's not like a stud mike is just sitting out there either, though. This is the 90 man roster. Most of the signings at this stage aren't for need.

This guy was average once.....in 2017......5 years ago........

That's just a little bit better than average, if we're being real.

Otherwise, he's been mediocre. Surely, he's here to compete for WR3/WR4 against Swain and Eskridge. Good guy to have on the 90.

A little Seahawk news never hurt any Monday morning!

I see this as, lets break down Goodwins body rather than DK's body in practice.

I hope he can still contribute in the return game. If he can do that, then I would say it was a good signing.

He's not coming in to be WR1 or WR2. This is a great depth signing. I think he'll be a good mentor for the young guys too: "I ran a 4.27; faster than all y'all. You think speed is all it takes to be a receiver? Think again."

Could be a nice below the radar signing. Hope I'm wrong, but the game just seems to be a little too big for Eskridge. I'd love for any of you to argue that and make me feel better. I'm more excited about our 7th round choice.

Looks like we're doing what's in our power to create an offense full of outlets for the QB.

Hard to argue about Eskridge. He's been a bit of a disappointment so far, largely because of injury maybe, but still, he needs to show some real development to be more than a fringe player who will always be on the bubble come cutdown day.

This Goodwin signing has a feel to it that he's much more than camp fodder. The bottom 2-3 spots on the WR list are really all that are open, and with a more robust emphasis on a strong running game, we might not keep more than 4-5 WR this year. The RB and TE rooms might be crowded this year. Padding those spots could be at the expense of WRs.

McVay always has a lightning quick smaller guy on his team:
Tutu Atwell
Brandin Cooks
Tayvon Austin...

There is a reason they picked Eskridge. He has a specific role.
