I think this statement speaks for itself:

Let’s be real for a minute. Analysts and fans can cherry-pick a few games or plays to hint at the potential Lock has, but that is all it is, potential.

Potential without results isn't worth much. The fact is, Lock has been a terrible quarterback when given the reigns. This is not hyperbole.

This forum had some people really pushing Geno Smith early in Wilson's injury. He never had the opportunity, they said. Dude is a backup for a reason.

The Broncos traded for Wilson for a reason. They had Lock. Lock isn't a starter; Bridgewater was more of a starter and he's not a starter. Lock might suddenly surprise us. But the probability on this is so low it's not something I take seriously.

I don’t think anyone feels like Lock is hands down the next franchise QB unless he proves it on the field.

But Lock makes $1.5m in a contract year. If Waldron can scheme into a Goff lite and he can compete and win the starting gig and he produces somewhere around 3500-4000 yards, 18-22 TDS, 12-15 Ints then he instantly will be one of the biggest bang for your buck QBs in the league. That’s an if, and he might not win you games in the 4th qtr, but I’d take that over Mayfield at 19 mil. Mariota at 9 mil. Etc.

You should watch his first season. Fangio had no interest developing him. The Broncos,whom I’m a fan of, gave up on him early on. Lock played great in the WCO, a very similar WCO that your team currently runs.

I'm from the days when Denver was my most hated team in the old AFC west . Especially that buck toothed Elway . The Donkoes may of given the Hawks an unexpected gift with Lock . He might blossom in Seattle . I said this before, the Hawks have him , so work him out and coach him up and see WTF the Hawks actually have with him . To early to throw rocks . imo

Matt Hasselbeck's situation and Drew Locks situation are completely unrelated in just about every sense. Holmgren quite literally had inside knowledge and personally trained Hasselbeck. When we got him he was inserted into the same exact system he was in in GB. Mike Holmgren knew exactly what he was getting when he traded for Matt Hasselbeck.

This situation is copium at its finest. Drew Lock is one of Carroll's hail mary reclamation projects. Drew Lock is this years Darnold. I've seen the dude play, he's not good. There is a reason why we were flirting with Desean Watson and continue to be looking at QB's in the draft. Drew Lock is nothing but a placeholder, a warm body to man the position that has good physical skills. He's going to be a Tarvaris Jackson like character.

People keep comparing him to Goff, but that situation isn't the same either. Shane Waldron is not McVay, nor does he have the same petigree as McVay nor should we expect him to be McVay.

I don't know what K45 believes about Lock & how he'll do in a better fitting system, but I "Believe" you don't actually KNOW for a fact that he won't succeed...We can ALL have opinions, not all are going to jive with each other.

And Holmgren also pulled Matt early on for screwing up & inserted Trent, (a guy that he DID NOT "Personally Train") and let him play for quite awhile before putting Hass back out there to take the reins again.

Here's how I look at it. Lock knows he has one year (maybe) to prove himself. After that we enter a draft loaded with QB talent. Worse case scenario we grab our QB1 then. Best case scenario, Lock keeps the job and we use those picks to build our defense.

I dont believe that in the time he spent in Denver, from one OC to the next, basically a rookie starter learning a new offense in a year without preseason prep, and under a pretty bad coach, that the book has been written on Drew Lock. I do believe that it's possible for him to deploy the skillset he has to its maximum and for him learn to play more disciplined ball with better coaching.

Do I think that if he does that, he can be a reliable starter? Sure. Top 5, probably not. Top 10 - maybe in a good year, from what I can see of him now. Probably more likely, top 12 to 16.

It's a pretty precipitous drop from there, to backup.

As pointed out earlier, we had people convinced we could be better with Geno than Wilson.

It shouldn't shock you that people think David Lock could be better than Wilson. They thought Geno could be better than Wilson and whathisname is better than Geno.

We have a gift for ridiculous unfounded optimism here. And an unswerving willingness to place everything in the hands of aging barely competent and barely relevant washed up HC/GM.

David Locke won't be terrible. But he isn't going to make anymore forget Wilson either.

I'd also say that I've learned to not underestimate the intangible power of will and commitment. You need look no further than the guy we just swapped for Lock for proof of that. Russ is a prime example of a QB who learnwd to work around those things he couldnt do, and maximized... literally squeezed every ounce out of ability out of what he could do, to achieve HOF success.

I think the question with Lock is how disciplined he can be. If he can avoid the stupid throws, take what's there, and let loose his arm talent when the opportunity arises, there's no reason the guy can't find a good bit of success in Seattle.

We have wr's that will get open, a coordinator that will craft a gameplan specifically to help Lock do what he does best, and a running game that is hopefully primed to continue where it left off last year.

I'm saying... there a reasonable chance he's better than a lot of folks here expect he'll be.
