Didn't the team go to ZBS when they picked up Lynch to complement his skillset?

No. Lynch struggled with it. He finally went to Cable and had him go over the x's and o's of the ZBS. His first year he struggled with it. When he finally bought into it, his numbers went up quite a bit.

2015 Seattle Seahawks 7 111 15.9 417 3.8 59.6 3 24 29 26.1 1 0 0
2014 Seattle Seahawks 16 280 17.5 1,306 4.7 81.6 13 79T 65 23.2 7 1 1
2013 Seattle Seahawks 16 301 18.8 1,257 4.2 78.6 12 43 68 22.6 6 1 3
2012 Seattle Seahawks 16 315 19.7 1,590 5.0 99.4 11 77T 68 21.6 9 2 4
2011 Seattle Seahawks 15 285 19.0 1,204 4.2 80.3 12 47 63 22.1 4 2 3

The rule changes the last two seasons haven't effected what the Seahawks do at all. Linemen becoming more athletic and more used to the scheme have.

Either way we do much better when we line up and play smash mouth football than when we try to play ZBS.

ZBS doesn't have anything to do with our struggles.

Making that kind of a change at this point would be a two year process minimum. With a lot of turnover on the OL to get guys more suited for a new scheme.

The OL is making strides. Ifedi is a better RT than he was a RG. Joeckel looks every bit like a guy who will get a competitive offer from us at the end of this season. Aboushi is a better RG than Sowell or Webb were at OT last year. Seattle will struggle now that they're sending out their 3rd string LT. Honestly there isn't a team in the league that wouldn't be.

Seattle still has some work to do going forward. Expect us to target OT in days one or two of the draft. Pocic needs to get some of whatever Fant got in terms of building his strength to meet NFL standards. Overall though, Seattle has made upgrades at LG/RG and RT this year. It's time to let these talents develop.

We're not where we want to be. But it's not a complete dumpster fire either. That much is pretty apparent four games into this season. These next four games should be expected to be pretty brutal (@LAR, @NYG, HOU, WAS). But I like where this OL is compared to other poor (peer) OLs in this league (NYG, ARI, HOU, CIN, IND, DEN).

Currently Seattle sits 16th in sacks allowed for 2017. Of the bottom half of the league, we are one of two teams who have improved sacks allowed over the 2016 pace (CLE being the other). We are one of the nine teams in the NFL who are having a better year this year than last. Sacks are up considerably across the league. 21 teams are outpacing their 2016 sacks/game already this season.

That encapsulates all of the problems right there. They drafted an RT in 2016 and wasted a year of his development at RG. They draft Pocic who plays along the interior when they were desperate for help on the edges. Now it looks like they have the LG-C-RG figured out and Pocic is the odd man out. Every success this team has along the line it seems to be in spite of themselves. For me, the 100 death blow for Tom Cable would be if all the backup linemen played better than the guys he wanted to play in the first place.
