“Glad to be able to get a deal done with Charlie,” said head coach Ken Whisenhunt. “He brings a familiarity with the offense we are installing. He will be a great resource for Jake and the entire offense; and as a player, he understands what we want to get done. Working with him over the last year and seeing how he works and his ability gives me confidence that he is the right fit to fill this role.”

I finally figured out why the Titans were willing to pay Whitehurst so much. Whisenhunt was in the hunt for Charlie when the Seahawks traded for him. Both teams had a trade offer for him. Seahawks "won" that time but I guess Whisenhunt really likes him. This is the same guy who traded for Kolb. I guess Locker has some new competition. Seems close to starter money over the 2 yrs at first glance.

I am thinking though that the contract is back loaded and little chance of Whitehurst getting the full $8M.

He also thought Skelton was a viable starter and signed off on drafting Ryan Lindley who was historically awful.

One might surmise that QB evaluation isn't Whisenhunt's strong suit.

Heh. One might surmise that someone higher up in the front office should ban him from ever having anything to do with quarterbacks with that track record.

And Kid, Hass is a Colt; has been for a year or two now.

I forgot that Whisenhunt was the OC in San Diego last year. Makes even more sense in regards to him going to get Charlie. Contract details would be interesting though. You have to spend it somehow, gifting Charlie isn't something I would do but he is familiar with Ken's offense. Pay the man!

Somebody tell 'em miracles aren't real.
I think everyone realizes you are an atheist at this point. Is it really necessary to inject this into so many of your posts? Or maybe I should just start making dumb cracks about how silly it is to think that there isn't a God whenever I can fit some little wise crack in there.

Swallow that bitterness, bro. It's a thread about a QB that looks like Jesus, and even the more religious posters around here made cracks about it when he was with us, too.

Here, have a miracle:

I think its funny you call me bitter when its you that is constantly making comments about any belief in God, Jesus, or miracles. Seems to me you have some kind of bitterness in there when you interject this so often into your posts.

Thought that I had blundered into the Partisan, Wimp & Repetitive forum for a second.

That has to be a mistake. Charlie Whitehurst sucks! Wow, Matt Flynn's still available I believe, he's 10 times the qb CW is. Brandon Weeden, Jason Campbell, all better options than Witless Whitehurst. I'm stunned.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought he'd signed a two-year deal with the Colts before last season and I hadn't heard about him being cut, so I was a little surprised to read someone in here say he was a free agent.

That dude has got to be the luckiest man alive to get that kind of contract. He's made bank just being a backup. Must be nice :)

Tremendous signing for the Titans. They'll run away with that division now.

Good on Whisenhunt for not holding it against Whitehurst that he spurned him a few years back in favor of Carroll's duplicity. I assume he'll be given a fair shot in Tennessee, and should shine.

I don't believe Whisenhunt was the GM.

Skelton was a fifth round pick, who I thought did pretty well all things considered. Him starting was more of a "best of a bad bunch" situation. Lindley was awful, but again, he was a UDFA who started by chance when they had nothing else.

This was his first season as a Colt. He signed a 2-year deal then said he plans to retire.

According to Sportrac, it's a 2 year/$4.25m contract. Only $2m guaranteed and can be cut next year. Might have more available through incentives.

Still too much.

Personally I have decided he must be a porn star on the side. It's the only thing that makes sense. And well I have always sensed Roger is a bit sugary in the tank....
