It is sad to see someone's love of their team die out, but maybe Seahawks can fill that void for you. Good luck with that.

Thanks! Truth is, it really hasn't been the same. The Browns just are not the same team they once were. And to watch the Ravens move on to be playoff contenders every year and get 2 Super Bowl rings, it's an even bigger slap in the face.

And then to turn around and root for the Seahawks on Sunday night against the 49ers and witness that record-setting crowd noise, it was just incredible. To see a crowd so pumped up for their team, a team who has retired a jersey number just for their fans...well, it speaks volumes (literally) about what kind of team this is.

...there is absolutely no reason to believe that the Browns traded him to Colts due to performance reasons or injury concerns. it sounds more like the new regime giving up on this season in order to accumulate as many picks as possible to stock-pile good players in 2014...

You're exactly right. This is yet another regime change and trying to re-shape the Browns into someone else's mold, someone else's vision for the future. It's all about losing out this year in the hopes of scooping up another draft pick for a run at another franchise QB who will be traded off in 2-3 years anyway.

And yes, the name is a Firefly reference. You can't take the sky from me!

I get the Browns desire to draft a franchise QB, but how much worse are the Browns without Richardson?

a lot worse. Browns have no legitimate running game, so there will be nobody to fear in Browns offense. Weeden may not be as competitive (and everybody with half a brain knows that his days are numbered anyway). the locker room morale cannot possibly be any lower. if you are willing to get rid of an elite player on your team, who else are you willing to get rid of between now and end of the season? boy, I would HATE to be on Browns team right now.

and you are right on the Browns' desire to draft a franchise QB. they seemed to still morn the fact that they didn't get RGIII when they had a clear chance.

I think they're in a position to draft a QB either way, and a late 1st from Indy isn't going to do much to help their cause.

but who are they going to draft? the Raiders and Jaguars are pretty much a lock to be the bottom two teams in this league. the Browns at least have somewhat of a decent QB and the receiving corps to stay competitive at some level. and all thee of them need a franchise QB. guess what, the Browns are going to suck donkey balls again! and now they dont even have a running game to speak of. they are doomed.

In the meantime, they further alienate an already alienated fan base, further dampen the organizational culture, and their young coach probably loses the locker room.

100% agree. I can practically see their fan base bringing their Browns gear to the homeless shelters :).

For the Colts, they overpaid. A ton of teams have RB depth around the league and would've parted with equal talent for far less. For example, is Richardson that much better than the #2-#4 RBs on Seattle's roster?

actually yes he is! there are very few teams in the NFL that wouldn't benefit from T-Rich as a starter. he can do it all, he is very versatile and extremely tough. he is also 23 years old! don't get carried away by the fact that we were able to snatch Marshawn Lynch for a 3rd round pick - he was a victim of circumstances on the Bills team, and had all sorts of bizarre off-the-field issues. T-Rich was literally *the* best player on that team.

Agreed, Bipolar.

Remember, this is the same Cleveland Browns who took Tim Couch in the 1999 draft when they could've had McNabb or Culpepper. This is the same Cleveland Browns who traded up to snag Brady Quinn in 2007 when he fell unexpectedly, despite that they had just drafted Charlie Frye in 2005 and Luke McCown in 2004. Then in 2010, they turn around and draft Colt McCoy.

And now they're looking to draft another QB to build a team around in 2014? :177692:

Let's not forget all the veteran QBs who came to Cleveland to be put out to pasture as well. Good grief, Jeff Garcia was practically lynched in Cleveland because the fans thought he was gay.

The Browns also cut Cribbs and Dawson (K) in the off-season. That coupled with starting a 3rd string QB and trading Richardson, they have sent a very clear message that they hope to lose out this year and play the draft.

Woulda' been fun to be a fly on the wall at Hawk world headquarters.

We might have been dangling Michael @ Indy, thus his inactive status. Who knows?

Yeah... no.

1) Our FO has been involved in hundreds (and hundreds) of transactions under it's watch. No other team has made as many moves as our Hawks.

2) We have an abundance of RBs. Perhaps too many.

3) The Colts needed a RB (badly) and were prepared to offer a 1st for one.

Please explain why your answer is "no", we were definitely not in contact with Indy discussing the possibility of a trade (!?). You'll add 1 more post to your post count, if nothing else.

The Colts must think they are "this close" to being a playoff team in order to trade their first pick for an f'n RB. Its never good to take an RB in the first round unless it was AP in retrospect. If Cincy could get a guy like Gio Bernard in the second last year, it proves that RBs are a dime a dozen. If they are close to being a playoff team this year though, which they might be, the trade makes sense.

The Browns will have a decent QB next year even if they drop to pick 10 or 12 IMO. I like Tajh Boyd just as much as Bridgewater in next year's draft. Manziel may be the next Colt McCoy in Cleveland IMO. He is a great college QB and he's accurate, but holds the ball way too long. Without the all-star OL he plays behind now, I see him struggling at the next level. He would still be better that Wheeden though. I think they should have held on to Richardson and drafted Boyd with there sure-to-be low pick.

Cleveland's line is among the worst in the NFL, and has been for longer than a decade. Since the team re-entered the league in 1999, they have never built an O-Line, with the exception of Joe Thomas.

No QB can throw behind Cleveland's line. No RB can run behind it either.

Adam Schefter is reporting that the Browns' plan to replace Richardson is to go hard after Ben Tate in free agency next year.

Also it's been reported by NFL.com that several teams have inquired about All-Pro LT Joe Thomas but he's not on the trading block.

One of the more obvious teams is possibly Denver which lost Ryan Clady for the season, also Seattle too with Okung out for a while?

CLE not in total tank mode.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap200000 ... ding-block

EDIT: They're also fielding offers for Josh Gordon & Greg Little per Adam Schefter.

At least one team has made a quality offer for Gordon while another has weighed in on Little, the source said.

Cleveland will not make any trades unless the offers for Gordon and Little improve, according to the source.

With $25.637 million in cap room to roll over into 2014, they figure to do a lot of damage to other teams in 2014.

Long as they keep away from our players, we'll need to keep our squad together to retain the Superb Owl ;)
