Great read my friend. Pro football is very difficult to wager and win consistently. I used to live a 4 1/2 hour drive from Vegas so went there plenty and I am definitely not money ahead with any gambling I've ever done there including sports wagering. It's always been recreation for me so I'm fortunate in that respect. I was in Vegas and did win money opening Monday night this year on the Lions beating the Vagiants. Always feels good to win betting football.
I may retire to Vegas (or Tucson area, haven't decided yet) and if I do I will keep your advice in this thread in mind and try to learn to think like a guy setting the spread and look for weaknesses. There's one this weekend I think qualifies.....the Bengals opened as three point favorites on the road in Cleveland Sunday. The general public, in their ESPN hype fueled fascination with Manziel, have bet that down to Browns favored by one. Cincy at -3 was good IMO and at +1 is great.
Hey SD1..only found your post now. Busy ass week. Sorry about that.
You have your head on right. And I envy the fact you have the discipline I never had.
I basically quit because I could no longer feel the thrill of winning and I took every loss like it was a personal insult. With winning comes arrogance and the arrogant have no business betting (imo). You lose sight of the fact that no matter what your lines say, the ball is oblong and capable of bouncing where ever the **** it so pleases. I kept our sportsbook going and was able to live vicariously through clients. Then the law got involved, felt we were having too much fun and it became prudent for me to step away from gambling in totality.
But if you decide to make the move to Nevada, PM me and I can introduce you to a real good dice strategy (if you don't currently have one in place / are interested). A knowledgeable dice player has the control a sports bettor does not. And being in control is much better than being out of control. That much I learned. ; ) Best wishes to you my man.
