Yes, this is outstanding news!

I live in between Houston and NOLA. I'm 2 1/2 from Houston and 4 from
NOLA. The drive from Houston to NOLA is roughly 6 hours.
Anyway, I already have my tickets and hotel next door to the Superdome booked.

There are like 5 days of Halloween parades and it's the second best time of year to be down there.
And as for tailgating,... there is no tailgating at the stadium at all.
But, the entire city is open carry for alcohol so the tailgate is everywhere.
I'm sure 99% of you that are going already know this.
And in case anybody missed it up thread.
Voodoo Fest will be going on as well.
For those that are into music festivals, this is one of the top rated festivals in the nation.
Not for me but it could make for a huge weekend hitting up the game and voodoo fest.
pmedic920":3axxtwkl said:Fwiw, when I say tickets have dropped in price, I'm serious.
My two FRONT ROW seats cost me less than one would have, if I had bought them back in August.
Money well saved as I didn't book a room till I got the game tickets.
Rooms have gone up.
OkieHawk":3l61wlm7 said:I've found that if you reserve a room far enough in advance and then get the tickets you'll do better. You'll get a lower rate room with the option of 24 hour cancellation at no charge, and then buy the tickets closer to the game when prices drop. Win all around then.

Heads up all. Prices for this game have dropped significantly over the past 3 weeks. I just made my purchase. Front Row on visitor side. Half the price that similar were going for in August. Just sayin'
Edit: many seats available in the $60-$70 range.

Don't know any details yet as far as that goes.
Looked at parking and it's kind of a mess.
Seen passes any where from $25-$150
If we end up on our own, I'll do the best I can.
For those that have never been to a game in NOLA, there is a million small lots, not a 100 big ones.
I'll post more on this as I know more.

I've been to many Stadiums and always see potential for trouble but I've never had any.
Be quick to use your brain, slow to use your mouth.
You should have a blast in NOLA.

Very nice score, pmedic. Helps waiting to buy tickets until we're 1-3. So you're sitting somewhere in the range of Section 107-121, correct?

Actually, there is tailgating at the Superdome itself, however it's only on the top levels of the Dome garages which aren't open for single game parking. Spaces are sold on a season basis to season ticket holders so unless if you can find a Saints STH selling a parking pass for the game that happens to be on the top level, you'll have to tailgate elsewhere.
However, Saints fans are typically very open and welcoming regarding visiting fans. You can just walk by some tailgates and strike up a conversation and once they find out you're from the PNW and traveled to the game, odds are someone's going to ask how you're enjoying your visit thus far and of course "if you ate yet?" :irishdrinkers:
But as you said, there are going to be tailgates all over the place. One hotspot is along Claiborne Ave. directly under the interstate on the west side of the Superdome along with all the various surface lots and parking garages throughout the CBD, or Central Business District.
Regarding the open alcohol though, that only applies to plastic cups/bottles and cans. Don't try and carry glass bottles because you'll likely get cited by NOPD.

Nailed it. Lots that are around a 5-10 minute walk to the Superdome will probably cost you around $20 or so, but get there early because they fill up fast. Closer to the Dome the more they'll go up, but are still reasonable. Not sure where you saw the $150 price but damn, I'll certainly stay away from there myself. ukeface:
One alternative I'd suggest if you don't mind a little bit of a walk would be parking in the garage at Harrah's Casino for free and going play the slots before walking the 1.1 mile up Poydras St. to the Superdome. It's free 24-hour parking but it's a hell of a lot cheaper going play the penny slots for a little bit and get a drink instead of shelling out $20-30 for parking maybe only a 1/2 mile closer? Never done it personally, but I've heard of people doing it so it's not uncommon at all.
flmmkrz":29mkxo3d said:my girlfriend and I are going to be going, never been to a game outside of Seattle, maybe being paranoid but am I safe to wear a jersey or am I asking for trouble.
Nah, this isn't Candlestick or the Oakland Coliseum we're talking about here. We're pretty kind to our guests here... after all, our economy thrives on tourism dollars. :2thumbs:
You and your lady should enjoy yourselves without threat of being attack due to the color of your shirts, no matter how ugly and green they may be.

Pmedic nailed it. It's best to always be mindful of your surroundings and those sitting in the vicinity and it's perfectly acceptable to cheer on your team when something happens in your favor but always be courteous and not actively attempt to jeer and provoke home fans, not only us but at any away stadium. You never know how much alcohol someone has already pounded into them that day and that liquid courage always seems to escalate situations a hell of a lot faster than it would under normal circumstances between two sober people.
A good rule of thumb to follow is if you wouldn't like opposing fans doing it to you at the C-Link, it's best to try and avoid doing it in someone else in their own house.

Yeah, 5.5-6 hours seems about right. Just depends on the traffic leaving Houston and entering New Orleans. If you're driving in on gameday though and you plan on wanting to tailgate, I'd leave as early as possible from Houston because the traffic on I-10 and exit to the Superdome can be a nightmare in the hours leading up to the start of the game.
And you're staying at the Hyatt? Oooooh, big spender!

ATTN: If your looking for a party on that Sat night before the game, I know of 2 exclusive Seahawks parties. The Midwest Seahawkers are having one at Lucy's about a mile from Bourbon St and it's 55 dollars you pay through paypal or can pay at the door and what's included is all you can eat and drink. It's a very very good deal, the wife and I did a similar event when we flew to STL last year. The Midwest Seahawkers really know how to put on a great party. Raffles and DJ etc , Jus great to be around Hawk fans from all over and partying.
Also one of the other Party will be at Pat Obriens on that Sat, where the world famous hurricane drink is made. They are calling this a Seahawks Pep Rally I believe there is a cover if you didn't plan your trip through them. Seahawks road crew is doing this one, I will be checking this one out too. I didn't post a link but if you guys are interested check out the Seahawks road crew Facebook page and play around with it and you will see people posting where they are sitting for this game and asking questions about the Seahawks parties and tailgates etc. Also the othe is the Midwest Seahawkers booster and you can find them on Facebook too.
Just by the looks of what I've been seeing on Twitter and various Facebook Seahawks pages Bourbon st will be taken over by us and I'm not even kidding. If your having problems finding any of this stuff let me know and I'll send you a link. I cannot wait to see you guys there

12th man Tours is hosting the "big" tailgate. They are the same group that did it in Dallas last season. Top notch/first class.
It's been taken off the website in order to not over sell but tickets are still available.
Here's the menu, and I think it's about $60 per person.
Based on the thing in Dallas, I won't hesitate to do this deal.
As always, I'll have a few beers in my vehicle but there is zero guarantee that I'll be able to park close to this party. I'll try but.....
Any way, if you are interested in this 1st class tailgate party, email this guy with your questions.
