Now that we've traded Russell Wilson and released Bobby Wagner I was wondering where we stand cap wise ?

Probably going to have to let the dust settle from everything that's going on right now to get a truly accurate number, and even then it's probably going to be changing frequently in the days to come. This looks to be far from over regarding trades, cuts, restructures, etc.

A shit ton. Especially when you consider we have two less positions (QB aside) to fill at TE1 and DT. I expect 2-3 big moves. There will be more cuts and trades. Players like JC Jackson and Chandler Jones are in play.

Russell Wilson was a $26M dead money hit. Cutting Wagner saves $16.6M so the Seahawks have lost $10M in cap space today.

Wilson is an 11M savings even with the dead cap. His salary was well above 26m.

So it’s a 21m savings with those two.

The 2022 cap space gained from the Wilson trade more or less cancels out the salaries of the players we brought in. Assuming we start all three (Harris and Fant very likely will be starters but it remains to be seen with Lock -- as of right now he's probably our QB1), the net gain of the two moves is ~$16.7M in additional cap space and 2 starters. Definitely puts us in a great position going in to free agency.

Out:
Bobby Wagner $16,600,000
Russell Wilson: $11,000,000
Total: $27,000,000

In:
Shelby Harris $7,970,588
Noah Fant $2,211,918
Drew Lock $1,451,022
Total: $10,323,528

Net: -$16,676,472
